I just wrote a .x importer (entity exports) that imports into 3ds max with bones and markers, It scales the verts so it's 2 decimals more accurate than the obj import method, and uv's are flipped on import. (no flipping textures/uvs)

Lol it's funny looking back at production threads from back then. I'm glad to say I am at least capable of doing what they did for Halo 1 modelwise. Unfortunately, the newer gen stuff is still out of my grasp skill-wise.

Pretty badass.

Since the majority of the instanced geometry in this is metal, you can probably get away with using them as apart of the BSP. However, until we get an update of OS with BSP normals, I normally bake bumps in through a detail map or into the diffuse. Turning a detail terrain bump into a grey-scale image and using it as a detail map actually looks quite nice for cliffs.(i actually had conscars shocked when I showed him)Terrain can get a little tricky, as it requires some high resolution detail maps with a lot of blending work to make the bump look believable. I usually make it the micro detail map with a smaller scale.

I don't know what your method is as of now, but these have turned out to be the nicest for me.

Burial Mounds must be one of my all-time favorite maps from H2, real shocker that it never made its way into any remake :'(

From a reach forge standpoint, it is too hard to remake, too much natural geometry

From a CE standpoint, there are already remakes out there, but they kinda suck (the visuals are kinda there, but nades and vehicles pass through certain spots in the ground)

For what it's worth, I've fixed those errors by both turning simple parameterization on AND off. From what I've experienced, it's just the simple fact of switching it fixes it.

You people are out of you're mind's for not taking advantage of OS. Maybe next release will change you're minds.
Halo is a great game in its-self. But since we are not getting ANY new Halo game to the PC anytime soon, it's our best hope to eventually keep this community alive with it.

well OS is great for firefight and single player maps (provided you know how to take advantage of it)

but multiplayer servers don't fair so well with OS maps

I suppose. I wouldn't bother making a MP map with the state of OS as it is right now.

OS is not helping if no one bothers to play new maps.
Always the same Hugea$$, stock maps, Extinction, Coldsnap and Yoyorast Island.

most of the popular custom MP maps are broken... sad faic.

well, we can start making some quality, well balanced, and beautiful maps (a few out there are great)

I personally have high hopes for the MP map being designed in the Highpoly map thread

That's not going to change much,if at all.
Most players only play on stock maps,for whatever reason.

Decided to kick-start my Reach HUD again.

Motion sensor, grenade and sniper icon\meters are custom. Numbers were found off the internet and the sniper zoom mask is the one I made for the H3 hud (same thing as reach anyway.)

naa hes doin his own thing now days. alot of partying. i got him on facebook though and he said he would give me data+tags folder but never got around to it. one day im gonna bug him for it haha.

the reason for this is i cant compile a proper map with his tags simply by ripping the OD betas, the globals are messsssssssssssed upppppppppppp. if i can compile a proper build of something with the tags then im going to start makeing OD maps since he is to busy to do so.

there were some cool things being worked on that should get released
