Why not use both barricades? They have the same style anyways so nothing wrong with combining them imo. Fantastic planet TSM.

Just some texture work I was doing last night because I was bored. Mainly inspired from the textures seen in Cold Storage (Halo 3). I think I may work on quite a few other ones inspired from some textures from this map. I noticed that that map looks the most like what new forerunner looks like and it seems people like the brighter panels over super grungy dark ones. They are not really finished with details and spec but what y'all think of the designs so far?

Looks super Eliteslasher. Maybe a small amount of blue lights on the face would be nice? Like on maybe the smallest "piece". Ingame pics. Edited by Maniac1000 on Mar 25, 2012 at 02:52 PM

Looks pretty cool manaic, but you should add a tint of blue and where it turns black also make it more blue as well.

I am not sure what you mean. Like actual lights on the planet? that are on the dark side, like a night/light map? Or like a blue glow/tint? I dont think this planet is suited to this sky in particular, i was just testing it.

Right now its completley black. It needs a blue tint to the whole thing if your going to be seeing it from the ground due to the atmosphere.

More like this: The moon is a lighter colour than your planet though, so your would be darker, I guess - but the colour of it would more reflect what the colour of the sky is due to atmospheric tinting :)

Yea i see. I would adjust the max scene and render the planet appropriately depending what sky it is going in. When i rendered that planet i imagined it in a dark sky.

Edited by Maniac1000 on Mar 25, 2012 at 02:52 PM Something like this perhaps in one of these spots? If so, I sort of wanted to leave the ramp itself unlit and just use trims and such with lighting around the edges. Some forerunner stuff is just too lit I notice while other things should be lit. It seels to me that too many people focus so much on designing panels and such to include tons of grooves with a crapton of lights when what should be done is have certain large panels or trims have a few lights that more just make sense and don't give the entire wall an "i'm going to electrocute my self on this wall" feel. Granted some textures look cool such as the new tech walls in CEA, but doing tons of lights in every other texture as well is just way too much overkill. Large scale modeled in lights are where it is at. Also, with what OS brings as a renderability upgrade, I believe you could add more polies and should add more polies in maps for these types of details.

Yes please put lights there, but only the two places (not the third one at the very top). I don't think putting lights on the one at the very top will look good.

That's a pretty cool rock you have there, a perfect spherical asteroid that is big enough to grow only a few trees, id say its about a few hundred meters in diameter.

How can you jump off a planet when it's own gravity contains you and stops you from jumping off of it?

I have seen some guys who can really jump, maybe if they climbed a tree then jumped? You could also use the german engineered "four sprung duck technik" I would be forced to stay there and eat bark and moss because i can not jump well and my ducks are not ready to be growing springs yet.

This has to be one of the more ridiculous discussions I've seen around here...
I mean, obviously, there would be no trees as there isn't enough gravity to hold the atmosphere in.
UNLESS.
The trees are 50,000 metres high.
Planets are looking neat though ;)
