Some more texture WIPs
Updates to certain aspects of the speculars to come soon.

Textures look good but the architecture isn't that well planned out or modeled decently, which in turn greatly influences how the textures are mapped out...

Man, it's been a long time since i'v posted a WIP here, huh. Anyhoo, here's what I'm working on currently (Haven't been working on it much, been working on the concept mainly.)
Note: I know the rods are far too small, just a simple scale will fix that though.

Thoughs? Crit?

Loving the avatar (that I just stole). It looks pretty flat, if you're not planning on using normals it could use a whole lot more detail.

yeah, im working on that. It's a very early wip, but hopefully I can get it looking pretty good eventually. I'll post a pic with the bars "fixed" when I get home and see if you guys prefer it.

Reminds me of one of those bunker doors from Fallout New Vegas.

Update:

Note: Rendering messed up and caused those odd shadows (atleast, I thought they were odd.). It also was being uncooperative with the zooming.
Thoughts? Crit?

Not quite sure what you expect people to comment on if they won't be used for anything.

Is the door one object? If so break it apart. It looks like your straining to create primitives by extruding them from the face of the door.

Also get some reference or show us the drawing you are working from, the little experience I have with these doors they are more square with round edges and less of an oval like the one you are creating.

first and foremost, I'm not using any refs or drawings for this one, I like the idea of doing it without heavy outside enfluence. Second this door is going to be for more extra-terrestrial use, so a boats door is irrelevant. Third, yes it is all one mesh, but that's only temporary, just gettin' the feel for how I like it, then I'll probably remodel most of it in seperate meshes, I find this ends up with a better and mor refined final product. Oh, and the oval-ness is just place holder to see how it looks. (final product will likely have a door frame, also. )

GET REFERENCE!!!

If the door is supposed to be extra-terrestrial you are way off. Compare your model to the picture I posted they are extremely similar which is why I was immediately thinking you were trying to create a door from a human ship.

I'm not sure what type of extra-terrestrial your going for but look at their designs for inspiration, if they are tall try elongating the door, or if they are sleek give the door round edges.

I don't really see how hinges would work on your door since the middle is slightly wider than the rest. The door's wide part would hit the wall it's attached to before it could open much.

No.
@Jesse, don't worry, I have a plan for that, you'll just have to wait and see.

Where the hell did this thread go?!?!

Oh here it is!

Sorry for the massive render 56k.
Been working on some textures and decided to try a more h3/reach style approach to edges/shadows on this one. Comments/critique?

You never cease to amaze me, Slasher. Your work is so fresh, so...beautiful. It makes me cry.

It looks like citadel. It also reminds me of the Halo 3 mpa Citadel. Also, Sacred Icon and Quarantine Zone, a bit. It mostly reminds me of those last Arby missions with the corridors, mostly.

What era is this themed? 2 or 3? Or after?

I think its 3ds tbh, and it still looks amazing.

Thanks all, and for the map... well keep your eyes peeled here and at modacity. I do have a version of this map ingame, but that version has no textures and is just not unwrapped for crap. Will be showing some stuff soon though, so keep a look out here and on Modacity. As for the theme, you will see more on that later when the thread for this map (and the others *duhn duhn duuuuuhn*) is put up.

You should really work on that Forerunner geometry. It looks good for a plan, but you should really add more insets and geometry to add detail and create a more polished look.

Yeah. A bit of of stuff to add in that center bare floor area. Not going to be just a bare floor.

Only thing is, I doubt many lower quality computers will be able to play it. It is up there in polies and I haven't even shown the back structure yet since it isn't unwrapped. Once textured I will show it and I think this pic will pale in comparison most likely.

With any luck I will have more of an update in a few days or at least a week with most of the rest of the model unwrapped so I can maybe show the full map model off.

Played too much Skyrim.

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4120/bandedironshield.png
I played for an hour then proceeded to get bored of the crappy 5 fps on low (I get 20ish in crysis 2 on max...). Let's just say I haven't played it again.
