vehicle animations are very easy. just link model to the frames and animate the frames.

hm so no rigging involved? well that makes things easy and quick, i will be able to do that quite quickly then... ah but wait what if i have parts of the model that are not separate from the mesh would i need to rig them there?

Yes, you'd probably need to rig them, however it's quite easy. Rig them by selecting from element instead of selecting from faces, and most of the time vehicles have a 1.0 skin modifier since they're mechanical parts.

I never used skin modifier at all. you can just make seperate models and link them to seperate frames. But if you prefer skin modifier then use it.

And not moving parts (and all frames) should be linked to main frame.

ok ill do it altis's way since its quicker, and the frame .hull or the main frame just like scenery?

its getting close, it shouldn't take over an hour for me to do animations just need physics...

Yeah its called frame hull. And the physics is one of the hardest parts if you want to make them good. Also dont forget collision geometry.

bah collisions a piece of pie and i like pie...

but does it need to be animated as well?

@altis what animation did you use to make he propellers spin on the falcon? ground speed or an overlay animation? i need to make the gear in the center continuously spin while its running

yea it was never my favorite, neither was the brute chopper, they were just things to blow up.

i had it all animated and set up in one day but now bluestreak is crashing every time i try to export it. i'm not sure why but i have no modifiers in the stack and i set it all up properly i think.

ah well could someone check and see if i have set this up properly?

i fixed it by deleting the #elite_driver node that i had placed.

so now onto physics

Collision doesn't have to be animated, but you will need to separate your collision mesh and link them to the different frames just like on the actual model, so that the collision geometry moves with the animations.

Something looks wrong with the prowler but I don't know what or why.

I think it needs what in the real world would be the equivalent of a dull powder coat.

less shiny, more muted tones.

so i have been away from the hek for a while due to me being extremely busy

so i started working on the prowler again and i keep getting this error whenever i try to compile physics

you need to add # on every sphere. Collision model must have no errors. (it has to be seamless)
Btw all physics tutorials are bad.

so i spent about 2 hours on the physics and i went to reopen the file and geurilla crashes. it does this every time...

had set up all of the mass points properly like you guys explained and i'm not sure whats causing this but here's the files

Ok so I tryed again this morning, I set the mass and relative weights but it just crashes every time I save after inputting the coordinates. Any ideas on this? I'm a bit stumped

looks good so far. nice to know that someone else is porting the revenant, its one less vehicle for me to have to work on, i already have a banshee and better falcon being worked on plus a ghost and a few bipeds. i just hope you don't hit the same roadblocks that i did with my prowler

that depends on your pc. most pc's that can run games from the last 3 years on ultra settings should do just fine

that's the best thing i have read all year. alienware is just a bunch of overpriced crap. you wouldn't believe how many people actually believe that they are good pc's

my pc can run Bf3 and skyrim on max, no sweat. i even got mods to increase the render distance and added 2048 X 2048 high rez textures and still has no lag. and it only cost me around 800 bucks. even less now because i paid $130 for my video card and now its down to $80.

Sorry, don't boast there. By max, you mean high, not max. Because if you were to play bf3 on max, you would be getting 20 fps. Skyrim would be somewhat understandable, however I'll be seeing that you're playing at 30 fps with your "2048x2048" textures.

it works just fine i don't get any issues. it has always run BF3 on ultra but i did get a framerate loss when i started outputting to my hdtv. i forgot to put down that i have 8 gigs of ram and a 600 watt power supply as well.

$500 laptop? What a joke, Good luck building a "custom rig" laptop brah. So yeah, as far as laptops go, ~$2000 or your screwed. I'm so incredibly tired of all you desktoppers bragging about your performance and assuming that everyone uses a desktop and if their performance is worse than yours then they purchased a bad computer. I can use my computer where ever I want, whenever I want with pretty good performance on most games, your desktop however is stationary in your parents basement, isn't it? Rant done.
