Not half bad, check the proportion of the top half of the head and a smoother scalp might look better.

Fixed. C: (Links not the model, I have to re-rig it because I edited the mesh. :C Anyone wanna UV Unwrap and rig these 2 models, please? I am a poor UV unwrapper and I can't rig mouths (ponytails) for $h!t. :-3 Ivan, (the spartan), doesn't need a mouth rig, just Unwrapping, I will fix the model first (give me 30 minutes) then if anyone volunteers, I'll send them the GBXmodel and the .TIFF files through PM. 1. Ivan. 2. Sgt. Geoff Owens. 3. Cpl. Camila Sanchez. *Looking for face texture still* ^^ Should be done by the time someone says "hi". C: Edited by Hobbet360 on Jan 27, 2014 at 05:04 AM

i agree with dumb ai, too much shine, also grunt, it looks like some of those aren't reflecting properly with the normals, and it seems to be hurt the smoothing. (though i'll end up adding a fair bit of lumasharpen to the game anyway)

Like i said, this is my version, non-sauced. So there aren't any normal maps. It's all in the detail map(fakebump made by xlzqwerty) and multiputpose made by me. As for reflection being too bright, i was trying to mimic specular using a cubemap, i do agree that it may be too bright, but i think the problem is that it doesn't fade enough, so it looks sharper\brighter. What i am going to say is that i'm never going to be able to make it act like specular with a bump\normal map. Because those actually affect the details adding glow along the edges where it's added. I haven't found a way to do that in the stock engine, so i can fix the sharpness of the fake-specular, but i can't technically make it "look like" specular.

Yes, I've seen what people have done before with non-sauced shaders, but i think you're missing the point of what i was trying to do. Anyone who looks at those can clearly see that they look less desirable than the open sauce shaders, they just don't compare. Simply put, the Sauced shaders just look better. What i am trying to do is use cubemaps to simulate specular, hence the very bright\ shiny reflections. The one thing i can't do is make it look like it has a bump map, because i can't find a way to make it look like the light is catching on edges like a bump map would. But nonetheless, i'm still trying to get it as close as possible.

Those don't say much for non-os shaders. @grunt_eater: If you're really trying to replicate H3 graphics then they are way too shiny, but if you were trying to do something more metallic then you nailed it! Edited by clonecam117 on Feb 3, 2014 at 01:39 PM

your shaders look rather off, while it matches the pictures pretty closely it makes the rest of the Armour look like its made of glass. plus those were my first attempt shaders this is my latest version of these.

Quote: --- Original message by: darksoldier You know, I did my shaders in 10 minutes, I just playing around with OS. Maybe when I have the time, I will finish them who know :) Can I recommend something for your spartan visor ? I think it's a bit to much yellow, make it looks like more yellow/orange color ?! Orthen than that, I like your spartan, and thoses lights are beautiful <3 EDIT: "I work on the shader, the armor looks pretty good right now. (rubber is still in progress). The visor is fixed too." Some things need to be fixed, it's just a start :) PS : It's not a fight, It's just for showing my shaders with OS, and for know if they are good or not. Okay, so i did some more work on the shaders, and i wanted more of a comparison to h3 for this round. So here 'tis. Halo: 3. Mine with a fake bloom effect i added in paint.net. Mine standard. Ignoring the fact that the color is slightly darker, just paying attention to the reflection. Edited by grunt_eater on Feb 7, 2014 at 04:11 PM

The fake bloom was only there because my computer can't handle any real bloom programs, and i wanted there to be more of a comparison between the shaders and the screen-cap from h3, so i added a sort of in between picture for reference. The bottom pic is the one with just the shaders.
@SOI_7: maybe after i complete everything. It really wasn't that complicated. Edited by grunt_eater on Feb 8, 2014 at 10:04 AM
