Go ahead make the weapons but I have this question. This is Halo, not black ops, so why bring something in from another game that will ruin the gameplay?
Easy fix.
Dont use both tagsets.
Durr.
(Ever heard of Blood Creek RC3? All modern tags? Maybe use as special weapons (like easter eggs))

....

Can't even....

This is Halo CUSTOM Edition.

What gameplay is there? Anyone can add what they want and make any kind of map they want.

Every map has its own style and tagset.

Yeah. Assault rifles ruin gameplay. Make more Scarabs, to keep things balanced.

Obviously what we need more of is assault rifles that spawn a scarab with every shot. Obviously.

Of course! Everyone can express his own opinion, but only if it's not too personal and it makes sense. You can await that someone else has got the same opinion than you. Next time think before you post you own personal opinion. (You don't have to use his BO tags...)

By the way, I kinda had the same idea.... Note, it's still WIP and some animations aren't completely done!

If you're unaware, halo supports two reload animations per weapon. One for when the magazine is completely depleted, and one for when it isn't. Therefore you could remove the bolt pull frames from a copy of your reload animation and compile it as reload-full. I like your firing animations a lot. They flow together very well, which isn't always an easy task with the way that halo manages them.

I haven't worked on the reload-full animation yet since I'm always creating it when the reload-empty is completely done.

Quote: Looks good, shaders could use some work though.

What's wrong with the shaders? I had no idea on how to improve them.

No, I won't add ironsights, but keep the grenade throw. Also, I said I don't know what's wrong with the shaders. I quite like them. It would be nice if you read my comments.

Well, since I go nothing to do, and nothing ahead of me is even remotely clear or fun looking, I might as well /try/ to become good (lolpossible?) at SOMETHING.
That something shall be animating. Its definitely not gonna be something athletic or school related.
Squee.

Those animations look awesome.

How did you learn to animate? I have been trying to learn, but I need a lot more practice.

I've been working on FP animations like 2 years or something. You need to practise a lot. Maybe check out a few tutorials, too (I highly recommend ImBrokeRU's ones!). I've also learned a lot just by trial and error. Play around a bit and sometimes you'll have succes. Animating is a lot of trying out and see how it turns out as well. There's no real workflow, but it's really important not to loose motivation if something doesn't work immediately. Don't be disappointed!

I'm not sure how he learned, but I would suggest using Teh_Lag's tutorials as they are very technical and insightful. They are also inspirational.

I have been animating since Februrary. That makes it nearly 7 months I believe. The first time I animated, I was REALLYYYYYYYYY bad at it. REALLY bad.
I dl'ed Teh_LagsBR set, and worked of his video set. Also watched Broke's a few months earlier.
I thn went on to animate different weapons, get crit from Gamma, ODX, M16, etc, and i finally got to something by CE3. After that, I met M16_Assault (R93_Sniper) who was a HUGE help to me, and often would criticize and help me with many animations, and I learned and got better.

Since we're on the subject real quick, I'll tell how I learned to animate:

First was ICEE helping me along with origins, but I pretty much was a natural at that soon enough and was making everything "perfect" by about a month later.

Animating itself just came to me piece-by-piece as I learned frame timings by mainly copying Halo 3's animations. I would find a video of a reload, stop the video at certain frames, and copy that into my viewport where I'd guess how far apart each keyframe should be. Eventually I got the hang of it and was on my way.

I will take a look at the ones you recommended.

I have done two weapons (plus some random practice stuff, but only the two are complete)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvBQ9DmaoVE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J40AcUfbGlI

and btw, since we are on the topic of animations... all of the default halo weapons and most custom weapons (including that uzi you made) do something that I can't figure out how to do. When you turn your camera view, the weapons sorta moves a little in the direction you are turning. How does that work?

okay, ignoring the obvious errors, the handle is a bit small compared to the rest of the gun. and it looks like you have WAY more polies than you need.

@sparton 279: I kinda wondered if it was the overlays animation. But how is that possible? because the gun goes whatever direction you look, and there is just one "overlays" animation file.

It's turbosmoothed now and I think the extra pollies are worth it (mainly because the model doesn't contain that many to begin with. I do still have some work to do with it's detailed shape, but I'm content with it's current state to work on other areas of the revolver. The back of the chamber is now done alongside the part where the bullet is shot through the barrel, as well as the front of the Will post a new render of some more progress soon.

Overlays are 9 frames every time, one is left, right, up, down, front, back, fire, etc.
I dont know which order they go in, but I know thats what they do.

Back with results as I said before. I'm calling it a night. The grip has the most pollies, but the entire gun is near 2,000 so it's alright for now. Next thing is to put in the reloading mechanism and also mess around with the detailed design of the grip (not to mention reattaching it seamlessly) and yes I will widen it. I'll get to the chamber itself (the area that holds the bullets) eventually, but right now the ordinary cylinder will be a placeholder.

What is your current tri count, because it looks way to high. and the handle still looks like it isn't shaped correctly.

For example, this is a model that I made a LONG time ago (back when I was still using Gmax). It is far from perfect, but the handle is a bit more accurate to what it should be.

@sparton279: That is really interesting. Now that I have some idea what those are I can start experimenting with them and figuring out what order they are in. Thanks.

EDIT: lol, you posted while I was typing.
