most of the models are from FPSBanana. a few select ones are modeled by my friend (he's damn talented). I'm too poor for textured models though, but i'm working on texturing some things by myself. http://www.fpsbanana.com/models/658if you want the model Edited by AGLion on Dec 18, 2010 at 05:10 PM

Origin looks too centralized, like the butt of the gun is resting on the chest rather than near the arm. Rotate it towards the left a bit, and move it to the right.

The origin being that way was based off of real life and experience. I used to have this full length Mauser 8mm rifle. With the scope and bayonet installed, it was a good 20lbs rifle. I always found it comfortable to keep the butt of the rifle situated on the right side of my chest instead of the shoulder as my back provided more support and stability than my shoulder could, especially when using the scope.
I also made it that way to give the illusion that the character is holding a heavy weapon, and is trying to support it. I dislike origins that don't give this illusion, as it looks like the character is swinging the rifle around wildly without compensation for the weight of the weapon.
That's the great thing about IW's ACR animation (yes i've been watching broke's tutorials); the rifle looks like it has weight to it and the character has to work to manipulate the rifle.
Speaking of broke's animations, when is his next tutorial coming out? I've been pissing myself waiting for it.... Edited by AGLion on Dec 18, 2010 at 06:01 PM

Also, I don't really see the weight, but if that's how you like it (no innuendo intended), then go for it.

thx dude wip, no the thumb is NOT in the gun no matter what it looks like. its an illusion caused by the rather awful texture. first origins im trying to make, still new to all this stuff: right hand is there, but you just cant see it in that render. still unwrapping that bump map Edited by abkarch on Dec 20, 2010 at 08:14 AM

The gun is too far forward, and I can't see your trigger finger.
The lower part of the thumb should also be contacting the gun, instead of the very tip of the gun. Really, just hold a gun yourself/some other object, observe it, and you'll see.

Yeah you may want to move that trigger finger a bit so only the tip is actually on the trigger. Right now it looks like he must be cradling it practically. Otherwise, beats my pathetic attempt at gun modeling lol. Don't even get me started on my first attempt to rig and animate. XD Edited by eliteslasher on Dec 20, 2010 at 03:10 PM

If the right hand and fingers were in a good, natural position, you would be able to see them in that render. As for the left hand, notice how there's a gap between the thumb and the gun? That's very unattractive, and while it is not necessarily unrealistic, it is something any animator will advice you to avoid.

I wouldn't be bothered too much by the gap in the thumb, as long as it looks good. Work on rotating and moving the thumb bones to make it look smoother and better against the weapon. Moving the wrist controller may also be necessary.

That might be because of retail halo 3 sniper scope mounted on top, but maybe it's a reach rip.
