@slasher: will do, I'll edit the other slash a bit to be more diagonal and slashlike :P l What u should do is make it randomly choose between two attacks (like on h2v) one being a verticle attack and the other... an undercut i would if chokingvictim released the sauce

However they could make a seperate animations, and put one for the melee attack and one for the firing attack. Unless you use opensauce Edited by iizahsum on May 9, 2010 at 08:25 PM

I haz a question. Has anyone actually done a weapons backpack switch where there is an animation that makes you have to grab the weapon off your back and not just have it magically switch before you can use it?

Um...this time I agree with L0d3x. The movement of the slash doesn't make sense. The take out animation seems a bit....for lack of a better word, "weak". The idle has too much movement I think, and the posing looks pretty bad since all he does is robotically open his hand and close it. The attack animation was too "jumpy" and the way you twisted the arm during the animation seems awkard. The one where you slice down looks okayish. As for the grenade throw, it looks fine except that I don't think you should see the hand go up and then back down with the grenade in its hand this time. It can reach down (below the player's view) to "pull" out a grenade then do the throwing animation. On a seperate note, no one crit my sword yet :/. Edited by shadowce9 on May 10, 2010 at 10:19 PM

Image types never really bothered me, as long as they weren't BMP. All TIF does is just makes the image size bigger. Anybody with a decent connection won't be affected negatively.

Who are you ^? Lulz, gtfo.
Not everyone has got fast internet and for some people it might take longer to display the image. And actually, my home computer is old and tif/png images take up more memory than needed which slows down my system when I have a lot of applications open.
So displaying a png image is wasteing memory which I could be using to run other programs. So it is good practice and polite to save as jpeg so everyone can view the image with speed and ease.
Get some thoughtfulness for other people...

my crit is, honestly, start over, look at the Beretta 9000 tuts. those aren't even good enough to go in the first quake games. just start over, and look at how guns look, look at reference images and such. look at perspective views of guns, hell look for free 3d models like on turbo squid and study them. and this is nice crit compared to what other guys here can say, trust me i went tru this part too. if ur gonan mdoel stuff for halo, use 3dsmax/Gmax, mor at least model them in wings3d and take them into gmax to texture/animate/export. just do what the guys above said, follow the 9000 tutorial. don't wanna do it, then there is nothing i can tell u. follow their advice, they may act like ars's sometimes but most them actually do know what they are doing.

If it bothers you that your bandwidth is crap and your pc is crap, then thats your problem, not his. You would offer helpful advice if you actually cared.

tif sucks so much balls. It is even worse than .bmp. Why do people use it regularly like it was a jpg or something.
Unlike JPG or GIF formats TIF format files are uncompressed and have no loss. The JPG format has information loss in the compression scheme and GIF formats are limited to 256 colors whereas TIF is not. This is why a similar TIF file is much smaller in JPG and GIF formats because information, either color or pixels, is sacrificed to make the file Jpg ot GIF file smaller. The PNG format uses lossless compression similar to GIF but allows for more color information in the file. Each has their own uses depending on what is more important size, compression, color or loss.

Come to think of it, I find it odd that we're complaining about image size when maps for this game can be well over 100mb.
I don't know of any other game that has maps so large.
