okay im starting a katana (called "xer0") for a mod, & the modeling went pretty well =). The katana has approximately 288 vertices 572 faces this project actually went well so thats why im continuing it =P here are some renders of the katana: Overview Handle & blade top view Handle area (again) & finnaly the wireframe of the handle Right now i am gunna start UV-Unwrapping & afer that texturing. Make the smoothing group for the blade and the handguard separate, otherwise it looks too organic. It blends together too much. Real easy, set the planes that make up the blade to smoothing group 1 and the guard smoothing group 2. Other than that, it looks pretty nice for a lowpoly sword. The texture is simple but effective. kay ty, but i cant fix the blade cos sum of the polys up thar are stuffed but ill ignore that. & also the blade will look better in game because of the reflection cube-maps, & also the halopc engine has a tendancy to make things shiny, soo yeh thanks anyways.
oh and the textures are only a conept. they are placeholders, cosi didnt have enuf time to continue texturing n i was tired. ill fix the texture later cos i can do way better on textures but thanks... Edited by Shade117 pro on Aug 22, 2009 at 05:37 AM

It's not the M1A1. Call of Duty named it wrong. The M1A1 has a folding wire stock. This one is a solid wood stock, aka just the M1 Carbine. oh ok i missed when you said it uses firing animation. thats not the downsight aiming i was talking about. thats actually really annoying. having to guess where to aim then having the gun pop up like that. what i was talking about was actual downsight aiming like in farcry 2 or in a call of duty game, where you can look down the sights without shooting. as far as i know, that cannot be done in the halo engine

Looking though it while not firing, well THAT i don't think is possible, unless you sacrifice another animation.
