Nice, more interesting to look at than the origional PP.

He modeled the h3 pp... thats how it looks like except for were the meter is, god it looks like a bowl. I think its for glow? or something like it.

E: nugget bet me by a long shot for the glow, didnt read the bottom bottom.

I am sure Nuggets has more detail in the model than the Halo 3 one... I know exactly what he modelled.

Same details, actually, but lower poly. You'd never notice the difference, however.

I never thought of an injector being able to assist by shooting healing serum from far away.
What happens if you do more harm then good by shooting into the eyes or crotch?

photobucket absolutely whored the quality of the image. for some reason max exported as a 2.3 mb jpg, then photobucket cut the resolution in half. yet somehow i can get 2048x1536 jpgs at around 600 kb. the mind wobbles.

yeah i have no idea what to do with the stock. i tried doing it 3 times and every time it came out looking horrible. as in, worse than it does now
E: and the reason the quality is kind of horrible towards the front is that when i was finishing up, it was around 4.5k triangles, about half an hour later the triangle count was 5.6k triangles and it didnt even seem like anything had gotten accomplished.

tl:dr, i ran my loose triangle budget and the model ended up being 6.8k triangles :d

I don't think it matters too much if the stock looks like that. You won't see it in fp and in 3p you'd be too far away to really notice anything bad.

yeah thats why i let it go. you wont see it in fp at all except maybe in a melee, and im making a separate model for 3p

I would have to say you need to work on poly placement. You got like 18 sides to the handle with the bevels, and 8 for others.

Wtf ae you on? There is nothing wrong with the smoothing on that weapon, it actually makes it look more realistic and nice, also if you havnt noticed some edges are smoothed different so they are more prononced.

The only noticable smoothing error is on the stock, textures get rid of smoothing errors.

And Donut, that is an extremly good model. The only things I don't like as they look boring are the stock and the grip.

Stop smoothing the whole damn gun that makes it look like silly putty, make some edges hard not soft. Fix the smoothing please!

This fails but it's as good as i can get it without animations.

Treyarch's(misspelled maybe) model

Hayabusa's animations.

You know, I've had that idea for years. I don't know crap about huds though, so I never did anything with it. You can make it so when you zoom, you walk slower, too. It's in the .weapon tag.

Good job.

thanks for the crit guys. i was going to add the little ruts and the flat part on the handle, but further investigation reveals that the weapon is 6924 triangles. not horrible by today's standards, but i would like to keep it low since i was aiming to have it less than 5000 triangles. you will notice some details are missing. this is partially due to the fact that i had such a high triangle count, and partially due to the fact that i just dont care that theyre missing. you wouldn't see them in game anyway.

as far as the stock is concerned, its a POS. im aware of that. you wont see it except for in a melee, if i even allow this weapon to melee.

also the m249 saw has the ability to load ammunition from an m4 magazine as well as a box magazine with belted ammunition. this way if a squad mate with the m249 somehow manages to use up like 400 rounds of ammunition, they can ask a squad mate for a m4 magazine as a backup. or if you just picked it up and wanted to put an m4 magazine in it.

also i think paratroopers prefer the m4 magazines to the box magazines with the belted ammunition
E: and spartan not to beat a dead horse, but why would i make edges that should be rounded hard? first off i dont think it looks like silly putty, and secondly there are no base textures applied, no normal maps, and no HDR, and the Unity engine allows for all of that, so trust me, it will look much better once i have it ingame

I tried to copy Call of Duty 4's Dragunov animations, but I don't think I did so well. It looks weird using the halo rig, but as I don't have the CoD 4 rig, I'll have to stick with this.

Anyway, the animation itself began with me trying to copy Call of Duty 4, but the end result looked a bit jerky, so I spent half an hour "smoothing" some parts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssya8VrN58I

And the left hand not holding the gun was on purpose. I wanted to make it look like he was catching it, but I might not have conveyed that effect perfectly.
