Nice work, scope throws me off though.

Try removing the alpha and starting again, it's possible you overlooked something.

I've moved to OS and its using a .shader_transparent_generic, but it was a .shader_model, but it still glows. idk if Os changed the way the shaders work, or I just forgot how to do normal non glowing alpha shaders...


That is by far one of the ugliest Assault Rifles I have ever seen.

I remember when you first joined and whined about people tearing you down and pulling crap like this post. How about actually being constructive and courteous instead of a dick?

In other news: 3DSMAX 2014 now works for me. (Fking, Hp factory settings)







My first weapon I truly modeled. I have a slightly different varient in game. With my own custom animations e.t.c

Does anyone take offence to Modern weapons being added to a fantasy game engine?

BTW Gun design: UMP .40 Marksman Machine Pistol. (MMP)

Single fire, .40 S & W rounds provide accurate stopping power. Twinned with the high velocity suppressor this weapon becomes near sniper like.

Fore grip and tac laser provide accuracy over extended ranges which machine pistols of today could not hope to cover.

ACOG scope, supports 4x zoom only.

Compact butt stock provides added comfort and recoil absorption however, it is not adjustable.

A little shader thing that ZOBI3KING originally thought of. He thought the Halo 4 Plasma Pistol would be nicer (in his opinion), if it had the Reach colors.

Since I had nothing better to do, I tried to make his idea come to virtual life.




The yellow/blue part in the middle now glows in the dark.


This thing has CC too.

Yeah, but the UMP is such an epic weapon!!!

And TBH, I started out modelling real world weapons, hoping to develop my skills so in the future I could move on to completely custom stuff. But my Pc died and for a few months I modelled zilch.

So I am back to MW weapons, But my animations are good.

What ref did you use to make that? I'm not trying to copy you or anything, but looking at other people's triangulation helps me visualize my own concepts.

Last question? :( I prefer more. :D

As for the references, I have a bunch of them, taken from gun sights e.t.c if you want I'll send you all my references for shotguns, rifles, machine pistols, side arms, attachments e.t.c


BTW a few simple modelling rules when trying to perfect your topology.

1. Make your initial model into quads, NEVER EVER create Ngons on your model!

2. Once you reach the optimizing stage, (b4 uv and texturing) take every single quadrangle and make it into a triangle. You can do this by, selecting all your verts in editable poly mode and just hitting "connect".

3. Like the wood grain from a piece of timber or foot stool, try to adjust your triangles so they all roughly go in one direction. ("with the grain")

Quite nice, good to see decent-quality realworld weaponry in CE. Do you plan on making any others?

Edit: My only nitpicks are in regards to the description: you won't get anything resembling sniper rifle performance out of a pistol cartridge, so perhaps "Precision Machine Pistol" would be a more accurate (heh) name. Suppressors typically reduce muzzle velocity, so I don't think "high-velocity suppressors" are a thing. I do like that you wrote up a description, though.

Halo 4 Secret DMR, this is an unused weapon(one of many) from Halo 4 that is pretty similar to the HR DMR in textures but differs 100% in the model. It's been animated along with the Bigass weapons as I post this.

The scope looks more like the Reach model, for one, and the.... it's not the trigger guard, but the piece of metal that goes from the base of the pistol grip to the underside of the gun. That bit is a different shape.

That is the reach DMR, its not a secret weapon, its just the Reach model they used as a placeholder before they put in their own design.

Coming from a guy who knows nothing about modeling, I still want to say it looks great and that you did a great job.

Oh, I dunno then. I just compared it to the Halo 4 DMR under the assumption that it was different from the Reach model. I don't know what the differences between this one and the Reach DMR are.
