Slightly changed version.
I'll embiggen the stock some later. In this the main change is to the end of the barrel and the surfaces were prepared for high-poly turbosmoothing.
I haven't gotten the entire thing ready but a lot of pieces are.

Don't worry i did keep low poly models ready for putting in-game.

Yeah its meant to be a high poly AA-12. But as you can see I need to care more details into it.

Yeah I plan to do the m202 flash grenade launcher (grim reaper) and the jack hammer prototype :o. But I proobably need to improve my baking and high poly skills for stuff like the m4.

I swear, there are no good references for the magazine since there all like 512*512 and you cant see the details -.-.

Looks pretty nice. The stock seems a bit thick to me but is okay since no ones going to see it. Some parts, could probably be deleted since there unnecessary and should be placed in a normal map (Magazine and Bolts), whilst you probably need to make the top and bottom of the model less flat by beveling or something, to make it more realistic and interesting than the ordinary extrusion.

As for the texture you could probably add scratches and details to make it seem less plastic like.

Other than those few points. Nice job and keep up the good work.

^Sorry I lost all my skills at FP animating so I dropped the thing for a while now...

If anyone wants to help me with design and details feel free to send me a drawing through MP, or pictures of stuff you like on modern weapons, or any design idea that could make the BR less boring.

Especially the junction with front grip, link between barrel cover, the back, the magazine and the handle...

@Bourrin. If it were me I would of based it alot on the famas (grip and the triangular front).

For some reason this gun looks abit too fat at the moment but thats just my opinion lol.

i choose the secret weapons i will make for dedust 2



i need suggestion for design it with a forrerunner design or something cool.

and an other thing, i seen many comments about tags used on the open beta of dust, i wanna just say one thing about it, i find all tags on halomaps.org on weapon tags section. just need opinion of guys there, i work alone on the beta and i never finish a complet weapon tag ( i must learn animation ) but i use "rips" because i don't want to make my own tagset (i think what i need for this project was made by community), many cod 4 rips are good and nicer than css models that's why i choose it for the beta.

Many people don't want to see rips on custom map, but people must know dust beta was make for fun, i don't to make a perfect map or a perfet copy of dedust, that's just a varient. I use community stuff.

but if someone wanna participate to the projet it's ok, i have one objetif with this map : people must take fun when they play the map, this not a great map with answome bsp and tags but just a fun place for laugch with your friend, i never said "hey guys i will make dust varient with perfect stuff and bsp"

i know it's cool to see new tags but we have a large choice of tags on halomaps, why don't use it ?
i will try to make the secret weapon for add a new custom tags, but i m not able to do a complet tagset with css guns. i thinks map will be better if i use tag from halomaps.

It looks great, however. I think the blade needs to be longer. If you look at it in comparison to this.


The blade needs to be a full time and a half longer then the handle. And the swoop down on the blade by the handle needs to come down almost as far as the guard does.

a lot of that detail is unnecessary and can be simulated with textures. if ye use specular and diffuse correctly, you shouldn't even need a normal/bump map to emulate details.

Thanks guys for your advice. Im going to redo the handle but I think the blade looks fine atm (imo). Anyways here is what I got interms of bake results for the last one:

First model I made with a reasonable of effort.
Yeah, I know it looks more a LEGO pistol than a actual ray gun but I'm still new to modeling.
