Alright, I finally got my sounds compiled in tool, they play just fine in guerilla, but I added the firing sound and it is completely silent ingame. Am I doing something wrong?

If it matters, here's the command

os_tool sounds levels\test\tutorial\tut ogg 128000

Ensure that your gain modifier isn't set to 0 in your sound tag. If you created a new sound tag, that tends to be one of the most common issues.

Also, you don't need to use OS tool. I don't think it doesn't anything for sounds

Also make sure you have a firing effect to add the sound effect too.

I 100% guarantee it's because you exported the sound in 44khz. Export it as 22khz mono and it will work. If you really want 44khz you have to use a special technique. In audacity select your entire sound and use the "change speed" tool at -50 to make the sound 2x slower. Once you compile the sound, go into guerilla (at 22khz) and set pit range 2 to 2. This plays the sound twice as fast and you magically get twice the playback rate. Some boys in VKMT discovered this and it works wonders for Halo CE sound design.

Thanks man will try it, I did indeed export in 44khz. Will go ahead and try it. Question though, do I export at 22khz or 44khz for that technique?

if I export at 22050 in audacity, when I try to compile I get this

Importing levels\test\tutorial\tut\in
Compressing...
Ogg encoder failed to initialize: Possible reason could be asking for a mode that
libVorbis does not support ( eg. too low a bitrate).

EXCEPTION halt in .\import_sounds.c,#692: new_size > 0

EDIT: if anyone reads this, export your audio at 22050, and the command to use in tool would be this,

tool sounds "levels\test\tutorial\sounds" ogg 41000

now I just need to figure out how to make the sounds not so quiet, without distorting them that is. Any ideas?
