Sexcellent. 5/5

That banding effect seen in the lightmap bitmap is so harsh. :( Have any video of you doing this whole thing? I'm at the point where I need to learn that fancy aether crap and currently the only option is reading. Ew reading.

Yeah, this was my first time using Aether. It took me a while to get decent results with omni lights. But I could probably demonstrate how to do it on a stream. :)

The map looks fantastic, but there are some things that I would like to have seen fixed.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rhu708kypizwn5q/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-35-32-26.png?dl=0

The UVs could be modified to match the adjacent walls a little better. Not necessarily the same, but maybe have the lines match up a bit better (you could tile the texture)

Lightmap banding:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7vfmp4yvxrbre53/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-37-06-40.png?dl=0

For these next few, you can easily tell that the lightsource is a single point, not a strip of light:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ueg9npah27zq2gm/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-42-02-10.png?dl=0

I see what you did here...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/b2i8jqpj6zh6p4e/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-41-35-78.png?dl=0

Maybe some blast doors could go here to give the feeling that the level is completely isolated:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/c681p12fhqgk8kr/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-40-56-92.png?dl=0

More UV nitpicking:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ei7634cz9pvlm06/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-38-43-36.png?dl=0

This light should probably be insent and extruded\(intruded?) like the ones in the hall. it's kinda just on there like a sticker:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zm96p4gan70d2tj/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-37-18-18.png?dl=0

This wall feels weird... I dunno why. Maybe the sides are different.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/wmtscjht2d8g4pt/haloce%202016-06-22%2016-39-19-63.png?dl=0

The one last thing I can think of is the map setting. Is it an exterior map or interior? Both? I can't imagine humans walking around without space gear since it's not sealed. Is it a hangar bay, cause I don't see landing pads.

Either way the map looks great, do keep up the good work!

I didn't really know how to fix this issue. Thanks for sharing.

I was thinking of the outdoor setting of Boarding Action. I admit, that I was lazy on some aspects of the map. But I already spent enough time on a simple map. :/

Thanks for the crit. :)

The Dither Type drop down list is there because Halo lightmaps are stored as 16bit images, which means that is has less available colours that a 32bit image. This reduction in colours can result in banding on gradients of colour. This banding can be visually lessened through the use of dithering which fills in the gaps with dots of colour to soften the effects. Whether you use dithering is down to personal preference and is not required.

From images I see some great looking spaces for flag runs and pistol duels! It good to see a well done human themed map, I'm looking forward to playing this!

Congrats! Please fix the broken image links. I'm looking forward to a video tutorial or something that explains the Aether lightmapping process. I've been avoiding it like the plague.

I literally just googled "halo ce lightmap banding" and was subsequently sent here:

http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=4312

If you browse through the file notes you'll be able to excerpt the paragraph I ripped from thewateryscythe.

In short you are not stupid you are learning.

It wasn't. You basically said that I shouldn't call myself an idiot. It is a learning process. But I hate making simple mistake.
