Following masterchief117's thread about MP maps MCC edition: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=49465

I'd thought I put them all into normal map file names from (e.g. bloodgulch_tmcc.map to bloodgulch.map itself) without the _tmcc suffix.

However, when normally renaming by the right-click then rename from (hangemhigh_tmcc.map to hangemhigh.map) it will exception.

So doing so would require me HEK, Eschaton and Halo Map Tools as suggested by Kinnet. But this is my first time modding Halo CE so I haven't done it before. The first step was to extract the tags in the said map file but I do not know how because this is my first time modding. Any assistance is welcome.

To extract tags you will need HEK+, you can find help in the tutorial section. I've tried to change and recompile stock maps before but I always get exceptions, I'd asked Kinnet and he told me that he used "satanic pacts" to get this to work, I know he's hidding his "method" but I'm very surprised that nobody else has done this kind of mods for hce before.

You can't just rename maps like that, I think there was a special tool to rename them somewhere, try searching for it.

It was giraffe's java program I think.
Or someone else's?
It used to work for me years back but not anymore. I don't even have that program on my drive I don't think.

This might help: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=6196

or simply use a hex editor like Hexworkshop
