Hi. I have been trying to make a Halo dedicated server all day. I had everything done(I know what I am doing). But when i try to join my own server, It does not let me. I tried changing the port to -2322 and just about everything in between. I also port forwarded. So I have no idea what to do. I am out of answers. I don't know if this is the right place or not. But I am asking for help. Thanks in advance!

not sure if i am remembering this correctly but in your init file, set the port to something like 2306 or something other than 2302 or 2303.
edit i wrong that read. looks like you did that.

Do you mind using SAPP to run your server?

SAPP is still among the easier ways of setting up a server that you yourself can join, or at least a viable option. I know from personal usage that this tutorial's process of setup works. Of course, make sure you're getting the latest download from the official SAPP site:

Update with some relative information:

The folder with my settings and files looks like this ^. The 'sapp' folder was created automatically once running the server.

This init.txt fits my basic needs. Last command is 'load'. More command documentation here.

I skipped the video's step about changing the game's client/server ports since that change is done per profile. A more 'blanketing' effect can be done by adding '-port 23000 -cport 23002' into HaloCE's shortcut target.

Since I only ever need the server for personal tests, it's always being run on the same system as my client. This means I can connect to my server using the 'localhost:<port>' address. The port is still 2302 because I'm using the default port settings on the default haloceded.exe copied from the root directory.

Screen in-game. Hopefully the video can sort everything out for you.

Thanks guys for the Speedy replies. Very helpful. I'll try the SAPP thing. :D

Edit:
Okay. I believe the sapp thing worked. I also port forwarded a bunch of suggested stuff. I joined my own game :D. I don't know about other people yet but, PROGRESS :D
