16 man FFA, no squads, on a rotation of all 5 maps, end of the last map, add all points together and declare a winner.

Dropped.

I won't be able to make it at that time anyway, but 16 player FFA?

Thanks for the time change, I'll be able to make it now.

Edit: Oops didn't notice that it was on the 17th, well I'll still be able to come.

You should update the op with the new info.

working on it, I can change the date and stuff, what time would best suit you peeps?

I live in NZ, so time zones are a bit different, I could set it for Saturday the 19th (your 18th) if that would suit you peeps better.

17th originally worked out for me. 18th and 19th wouldn't work for me anymore.

ok then, change of plans, that's what we're gonna be doing^ 16 man FFA, no squads, on a rotation of all 5 maps, end of the last map, add all points together and declare a winner.

So much for setting up a group on my end :(

sorry about that. I simply thought that a squad based tournament on such short notice would be:

A: difficult to set up
B: be much more time consuming as supposed to the FFA
C: fall through due to insufficient squads.

Maybe if this becomes something of an annual event we will do squads next year.

As for the straw pole it looks like the 17th is best. (or 18th in my case)

Anyway there's still several spots available, so make sure to sign up here:

I'd like to know how you're going to guarantee slots for everyone in the server based on who signed up on the xfire page.

You watch LinusKekTips too? What is your favorite video from that channel?

Do people actually watch his videos? I can't stand the way he talks.

ok, so just so you peeps know, I'm gonna message all peeps in this tournament with the password for the server about 10 minutes before it starts, I'll do that over XFire, so be sure to tune in for it. I'll be taking screenshots of all the final score boards for the points Tallie.

I'll do that over XFire,

Wait... XFire is back?

It's the tournament platform for xfire. Xfire as a company never shut down, just the xfire app.

Anyone around here interested in helping me make sure I understand the whole dedicated server thing: it'd be great if you could add me on steam Skidrow925 or "Conan the Librarian" or just go to my steam page.

I don't know how long I'll be testing it, but help would be fantastic as I figure out the wonderful world of HCE Dedi servers.

after talking with you I set up a working server for a minute or two on my own that worked over the internet.

heres the commands you will need:

sv_name "(name of the server)"
sv_mapcycle_timeout "(I'd say we want 2 mins between each game, so 120)"
sv_public true (hosts the server over the internet)
sv_password (password 8 chars long)
sv_mapcycle_add "(first map name followed by gametype, IE sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch slayer)"

^repeat that for all 5 maps

sv_mapcycle_begin (starts the server)

and when you want to finish after all the maps are done:

sv_end_game

just do that in that order and it should work.

Issue I seem to be having is it nit wanting to actually be publically visible. Not sure what's going on there.

ok, if you want it on the internet it mus be publicly visible, if public is false, you end up hosting a LAN game. as a countermeasure, use a password that only people you want on it know.

Thanks to those who played, (or at least turned up.)

The winner is SBBMichelle

Since the tournament has concluded, I have opened up the server for public access, cycling all of the maps played at the tournament.

You can join it at: 173.0.146.109:2500

I hope to do more tournaments like this, with better coordination of course.

Go ahead and have some fun guys!

What, you don't even have chat for your game fixed?

Use custom_chat 1 with hac2, or install the msxmlenu from the redist folder.
