Hello. Yesterday I decided to export the H3 ar model along with it's textures using adjutant. I then imported that very same model along with it's appropriated images into max without complaint. Just for the heck of it I decided I wanted to edit the unwrap diffuse texture for the ar inside photoshop. So... I imported the texture, made my edits, saved out of PS which is exactly when I noticed an overall 'darker effect' on my textur. :( Thinking I had screwed up somewhere along the line I then re-imported the original texture back into PS, made no edits what so ever and then exported the texture right back out of photoshop as a .tiff file. Again I noticed an overall darker look to my image which leaves me wondering am I specifically doing something wrong to the alpha channel perhaps? And if so how do I fix it? (these pics may help you understand) Hope someone can help! Thanks.

The texture was not meant to be transparent. I don't know what happened here but that is not how it's meant to be in PS. The specular map is in the diffuse map's alpha channel. I think you should be seeing something like this: Not sure if I'm saying it right but somehow the alpha channel was blended with RGB. Edited by Dumb AI on Sep 4, 2015 at 12:48 PM

PNGs tend to do that. Search for a method that separate PNG transparency.

Try copying the diffuse layer into an extra one, then apply a totally black background under the diffuse layer. Ot should fix the diffuse, though I'm not sure about the alpha/spec.
But yeah, just export it as DDS. PNGs tend to mess up this way.

3DS Max => Material editor => open the material that is giving probles => click the "M" button next to the diffuse map => In "Bitmap parameters" there's a section called "alpha source". Change "Image alpha" to "None (Opaque)" and you're good to go.

It's not adjutant lmao, it's photoshop. The alpha channels are being ripped just fine. PS no longer splits alpha's for PNG's/TIFF's Edited by Imouto on Sep 10, 2015 at 06:00 AM
