Hello,

I used to play Halo Custom Edition back in the day (i.e. 2004, 2005) when there were numerous clans. I remember joining a few, [CAF], {PWH}, [HGE] and {CRG} as time went on and met quite a few people that I wish were still playing. We went our separate ways circa 2007-2008.

Anyway, I was wondering if clans existed in game anymore. I know that the Halo CE league no longer exists and that many clans have disbanded. I was considering starting my own but to be honest the community is different from what I remember it. Of course, I was planning on starting a clan as a vehicle to meet people (although that idea is not my own idea, a friend of mine came up with it after some drama with some clans he was involved in).

Clans generally do exist, but you'd have to search hard to find the ones that suit your needs.

If you're looking for "competitive" clans, you can look at XG and POQ, since both of them still exist (somehow).

If you're looking for RP Clans, you can find Nova Genesis and Shock Response on steam. LHRP and SLRP still exist I believe but not sure if you're up for super cheesy tool RPs

For all other purposes, you'd probably be able to find a clan that's not strictly halo to better suits your needs

Thanks for your reply.

Would you say it would be a waste of time to try and start my own considering the state of the community?

Looking at it there doesn't seem to be much skilled players left.

Clans/cults aren't worth your time; you can make and lose friends without 'em.

I sort of have the same story as you. I played halo back 2004. Then i got carried away with soldier of fortune 2 for a while, the one and only time I've been part of a clan, lots of fun with that game. Anyway i just joined halo maps a few weeks back. I had a nostalgic itch that i needed to scratched so installed halo pc to play through the original campaign(which was great) but what is even greater is how alive the community still is after all this time. Some amazing projects have just come to fruition and more still on the horizon. I'm not really clan material, I have two kids that get most of my time, but i do play halo CE online 2 or 3 times a week usually 9-11pm pacific time; if that happens to align with times you may play pm me, I have a steam account. Oh and welcome back.

I remember playing this game back in 2004. I was just a freshman in high school at the time.

But you haven't been since then if I interpreting your post right? No offense but I think you missed out on the golden age of CE.

I don't have kids but I have been busy with college (although I understand that doesn't come close to the responsibilities of raising children) which has cut back on my playing time. I don't know if we'll get a chance to play due to other commitments on my end but if I see you ingame I'll say hello.

And thank you for welcoming me back.

Ah yes 2004, those were the days when...
*There was no single website to download maps from.
*Halo 2 was to be released in November.
*56k Modems were fast.
*I could go to the local diner with Mary-Sue and get a bottle of coke for 5 cents.

My memory may be a bit fuzzy on that last one though.

Clans are mostly nonexistent to my knowledge. The only one that I can think of is the POQ clan. The community here seems to be a tad more Singleplayer oriented, however there are some people here making new Multiplayer maps as well.

Remember when Halo online had built-in clan support.
Oh yes, Halo 2. The Pink Elite clan.
What amazing times.

Gone are those days however ='(
