Do you guys think that this project will be succesfull? There was always a fight between Halo CE people and CryEngine fans. Maybe Halo fans should work more together, whatever engine is in use, then we can create something good. What is your opinion to that? Too sad that devs can't take donations. It's not relevant to this forum. Go to the Contingency forums if you want to discuss that.

i think this is gonna be succesfull, but some people will hate it for small things, now with the halo offline engine, everything is gonna get worse. anyway i really like contingency. i don't care if it does use the half-life engine or whatever

I'm confident that visually the mod will be of high quality. Gameplay is of course another biscuit, creating gameplay from scratch is very challenging, and requires good solid programmers. I have no clue if the team has folks like that (and if so, how much of them).

It was very promising at first, but the last update was like way back in 2013/14 irc? I wouldn't be surprised if it goes down the project prometheus route and just get abandoned and forgotten. Stuff like this rarely get finished.

So let me just say something here, Contingency is being made by some of the best people in the Halo CE community and I can't wait to see what they do. They don't want to kill Halo CE or do anything, They also are good friends with the i01 and glassed team. Nobody wants to kill Halo CE. And I'm sure it will be successful because some of the people making these games have an awesome track record from modding ce.

The artstyle you and the team are working with is really nice. Colorful and uplifting instead of the gritty realism so common nowadays.

Do you think it can be released this year? And did you guys already finished the models for every soldier? I mean, on what are you guys working right now? And is it still possible to learn now C++ to help you guys? xD Anyways, I think you should keep on working on this great little project as an Halo fan^^

No. No. Classified. Yes, we'd love a capable coder in our team. Why is it Classified? Its not like you get any profit from the game.

Lol, my bad. Wasn't there a project on UDK a while back?
Still, Cryengine's main lang is Lua; not sure why you'd need to touch anything that looks like C to make a generic arena fps.

Cryengine's main thing is C++. we had a coder who did lua and because of it a majority of the code had to be re-written in C++ to make it work. CryEngine doesn't like Lua very much

Lots of hype in this thread
tbh if you're gonna make the game and want it be as successful as possible, post many meaningful blog posts/twitter posts/screenshots etc of the game while its in progress! It makes you guys not look like a super secret evil corporation and obviously you guys aren't making money. If you're worried about spoiling plot or something you can simply work around that.

I honestly say hold back until you want to. A lot of people get way to caught up in showing wips that they forget to finish the actual thing.

Well, theres a difference though between showing half baked screenshots and stuff that looks professional. What I'm really getting at is that if you go to Contingency's website, there hasn't been an update in over 7 months (almost 8). If they really are working on it, you'd hope for there to be at least some kind of update once a month or so. You can say they are still working on it, which I believe, but its not like its currently generating a whole lot of interest towards the game in any meaningful way.

An update once a month sounds terrible....... I prefer updates every 6 months because of the amount of hype it generates and they actually show you amazing progress of the stuff they have been working on for months
