Hello
Is it possible to port these "if you still have them" to the new Unreal 4 engine?
I'm not asking you to do it, but I am curious to know if it would be easy for some to do it....

its literally rip, export as fbx, import to UE4, make shaders, apply textures, done

super easy to do. grab the bsps yourself and do it.

http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=6054

there is the tool to get the stock levels into max. its pretty simple from then on

Does it run 60fps?

How many maxium players are allowed for this engine?

again as i have said too many times to count converting a whole game to work in another engine like unreal is too much work. you have to start from scratch with pretty much no code at all. all UE4 is at first is a rendering engine. its not already built up like halo ce is.

The HEK is an EDITING KIT, not a GAME ENGINE. the difference here is that in the HEK you are Modifying a GAME that is already been coded and has the mechanics already in place. in a game engine you have to make all of this yourself, which is a huge undertaking that is not really worth the effort considering we have a fully set up editing kit instead. why not take the time to learn the HEK instead of incessantly begging for someone to port an entire game to another engine when you obviously do not understand how much work that entails

the above images are of a MOD for unreal tournament 2004

i have been enjoying messing around with UE4 so far. is there a difference between 4 and the udk for importing level geometry?

For 3dsmax no, just lightmaps.

I have already tryed UE4 and for me UDK is easier to use. The main reason is that I use Lightwave instead of 3dsmax.
I was able to get the whole Halo3 waste level in game with very little work in less than a week.
If I went to UE4 I would have to learn 3dsmax first and I dont have the time for that right now.

you would only need to learn 2 things
1. How to export in FBX (literally just point and click)
2. How to set up lightmaps for UE4 (about 30 seconds of work when you learn how to do it)

From What I have seen you have to make a second UV in 3dsmax and then move the each group of poly so they dont overlap. I dont know how to make UVs in 3dsmax. Can you give me link to a good youtube video on this.

TUTORIAL TIME!

1. Open your .max file
2. Press the "0" button on your keyboard (not the numpad one), to bring up projection mapping
3. Click on the object you wish to get lightmapped
4. Hit "unwrap only" (as you should be already set to automatic unwrap)
5. Wait for automatic unwrapping to finish
6. Scroll down the sidebar and set the map channel to 2
7. Collapse the modifier and save
8. Export to Unreal
9. ?????
10. PROFIT!

You weren't fully convinced? People like Caesar, reachfan, fossy, etc are not "trolls" (Seriously, you guys have a really loose definition of troll). They're genuinely moronic.

I've always have that 1% room in my heart to give people multiple chances.
But now even that 1% has been dissipated. So now I'm 100% genuinely sure.

Hay do you have trouble importing halo single player maps into UE4?

Some reason it doesn't work.

6. Scroll down the sidebar and set the map channel to 2
The object already has 3 UV Channels so I set it to 4.

Hold up, why do you have a single object that has 3 different UVW Channels? That doesn't make sense. You can have your actual object have everything in the 1st Map Channel and it wouldn't matter if they overlapped or not. Show me what you did and explain why you did it, because that quite frankly makes no sense at all.

[qupte]
8. Export to Unreal
Did That. Then rebuilt lighting. The object turned black. I then add a bunch of lights. Still black.

Then I tryed 3 different video tutorials that have 3 different ways to do it and none of them worked. For what ever reason (It might be lightwave or bugs) its not working for me.

When you imported, did you make sure that you unchecked the box that said "Generate Lightmap UVs"? I had that issue at one point and when I unchecked the box it got fixed. Look into that and tell me what you get

I dont know much about 3dsmax other than importing and exporting.
I know even less about UVmapping, much less what a UVW Channel is.
I dont know why 3dsmax does the crazy stuff it does.
3dsmax is a pain for me to use thas why I didnt want to go to UE4.

3DS Max doesn't do crazy stuff, its actually extremely simple when you get about 2-3 hours of practice (Really just managing the UI is like 20 minutes to learn the basics, but if you want to learn the more advanced stuff you're gonna spend a bit of time)

Quote:
I did everthing egzactly the way you asked in the tutorial nothing more.

The file is Halo3 waste (The Ark) 070_bsp_005 it came from Adjutant then to 3dsmax.
As a test I made a diffrent custom model (in Lightwave) then used your tutorial and that worked fine in UE4.
Then I tryed another object (Halo3 ghost) and got a simular problem.

It seem to only do that with extracted Halo models, or the 3dsmax is buggy.

Seriously, show with pictures what you did. It'll make it so much easier to see where you messed up.

Can you please make a tutorial how to import a30 map fbx into UE4 because not all tutorials are not related to halo ce.

When you say "were you messed up" That sounds very rude.

Its honest. I did the exact same thing you tried and got it to work super easily the first time around. I'm not particularly amazing at this stuff so it only assumable that you did something wrong
