Hi.

I'm looking to make two distinct tutorials for the community. The first tutorial covers fixing structure compilation errors. The second covers portalling.

Now ordinarily I would model the assets I intend to use my self but I thought it would be fun If I could involve other members of the community into these tutorials. Plus it would take me weeks to knock out a decent environment and then another week re-making it because I didn't like the 1st version. [:0)]

Here is a broad list of what I require if anyone wishes to contribute:


1. Indoor or outdoor themed environment model intended for halo with errors.

. No sky box is fine.
. open, broken, illegal, flipped geometry is totally fine too.
. Doesn't need uv's either
. Must be a custom asset


2. Indoor and outdoor themed environment models.

. I require two BSP's in this instance since those two styles are prominently seen throughout the community and in fact the game.

. A few errors are okay.
. No uv's are fine also.
. No box maps please!
. Please don't rip from other maps either.
. Tris count must exceed 15k.
. Please don't contribute models which are already in map form.


3.What won't be accepted: (I've outlined this already but just to make it clear)

I know it seems highly critical but my reasons for not accepting box like map models are simple: Box models and indeed any map environment which is basic and simple in design do not provide an adequate base for me to relay my teachings unto you.

Essentially if I show you how to fix a box map, you can fix a box map and nothing more.


4. What will be accepted:










Now that you have a firm grasp of my needs I feel I should outline a few things:

1. You will receive credit for you contribution.
2. Your files WILL be included within the project files. (Making them public)
3. You will not receive ridicule from me in the tutorial, but I will constructively
criticize any wrong doings.
4. I cannot guarantee an exact date on tutorial release but I hope it shouldn't exceed 4 months.


If you do have a file to contribute please make sure it is in one of these formats:

.Max (2014 or older)
.FBX (2014 or older)
.OBJ
.3DS
.C4D (R15 or older)

I'll post my more completed Forge World here when I get home. I'd definitely like to see you portal that. It's about 40,000 polies with the Azimuth island and Paradise island added.

I'm still working on the in-game shaders, so the areas closer to the Asylum map aren't done yet.


I think this map would be a good example for portalling larger levels.

I don't have time to create the example models you need, but feel free to send your portalling tutorial my way before finalizing it if you aren't sure of something.

He's actually feeding mine because the first image under "what won't be accepted" is my best bsp

maybe my stargate map but it is full of error, im trying to fix i don't want cancel this project before all time passed at working on it.
i have a x304 model with error.
recen tly restarted the desert, i think export and import model in .3ds or .obj is bad for tool. that was probably my biggest error with this project or i just was bad with topology.


x304 error on top oh the ship, erro on hangar and bridge ( full of error )


abydos base ( error sometimes but not always don't understand why )

As far as I know, I am the only active member that has a copy of the level (Invader Veex might have it too)

If it's something you'd like to take a crack at, I can send you the files for you to look at.

I'd rather have an actual port of the actual BSP.


Hmm I guess send it but remember only 3 bsp's will chosen. Perhaps If I'm not too dehydrated I might try my best to portal some of the stuff that didn't make it.

Perhaps...
