It's been close to 12 (right?) years since HaloPC and CE were released. I just think it's a tad bit ridiculous that the official Halo Custom Edition install STILL requires a CD-Key.

It's a tad bit ridiculous to expect a game that receives updates (see v1.10) this long into its life/release cycle and expect not to pay for it. Also, given the only official HaloCE installer is the same one released in 2004, I'm not sure how you could expect anything else. If you don't want to play online, im sure you can find a key to get you past the install. Just don't expect any proper level of help if something goes wrong. But otherwise, I picked my copy up locally (EB Games) for $15 AUD, and if i lived in the US/UK, Amazon has brand new copies going for less than that.

Pretty much what greyhamism said. I own two copies, bought both of them from a local shop and the prize would translate to about 15 bucks per copy.

I'd be a bit more sympathetic if sealed copies were super rare or the game had next to no support/community backing, but Halo has both of these. So, yeah.

It surprises me that people look at Halo CE which you can hardly call supported in any way can be considered worth 10-20 dollars. Most Humble Bundles go for less and provide better games that are actually supported. Hell, the only reason you got rid of Gamespy was because an old Bungie employee and some modders stepped in. It wasn't the official company behind the title but random nobodies who had to save the day so people could continue making reach mods.

o.O That's just the thing, half life 3 is so ground shaking, that it collides with half life 4 and results in half life 5

Quote: --- Original message by: sparky Does this mean that Windows XP is free, just because it is discontinued? Look how many updates that old software received every week! You still see Microsoft selling things they can, regardless of whether they want to support those things. Yeah, but I think MS stopped selling XP long before they stopped making updates for it. You might still be able to buy new old stock OEM keys for XP on ebay. But with the Halo combat evolved CD, it seems to be still being rolled off the production line. I wish they would just wrap everything up in one package and put custom edition on steam, then charge $10 for it or whatever
