I downloaded HAC 2, extracted loader.dll, and deposited it into the "controls" folder of my CE directory. After loading the game and noticing that the features of HAC 2 hadn't taken effect, I closed the game, opened my "controls" folder, and checked for loader.dll. It wasn't there.

I repeated the process: download HAC 2, extract loader.dll, move into the appropriate folder, load, test, quit, and check said folder. The file was gone again.

I've used HAC 2 on Windows 7 without any problems, but now it appears that my Windows 8 is eating it every time I try to install. Does anyone know of a solution?

Did you try turning it on and off again?

But let's be serious, are you running it as admin?
The reason it dissapears is probably because of the updating process, but it is never finished because it can't create the new file.

You tried adding that file as an exception in the antivirus came with windows 8? Also tried adding an exception in firewall?? I dont know if this would work.

I installed it and right-clicked Halo to ensure I was running it as an Administrator. The problem persists.

Do you have permission to move/extract files to that directory?

It asked me if I wanted to allow the file to be moved into the directory, and I clicked the affirmative response. I'm able to put the file into the folder, but it vanishes at some point between loading Halo and closing out of Halo to see why my HAC 2 isn't workng.

I'm not sure. snehil2 suggested that I add it to the list of antivirus exceptions, but I'm not entirely certain how I would go about doing that.

Do this:

Drag and drop your hac 2 file back into the "controls" folder.

Then rename the file to something unique to ur HDD like: "omfgsomebodystopme"

Open halo wait for hac to fail, then go back to the "controls" folder. If the file has gone missing again peform a standard search in your HDD for "omfgsomebodystopme".

If you find it else where try copying it back, restarting your system and opening halo again.

I tried searching for the file after it went missing the first time, with no results. I didn't restart my computer afterwards, though.
