I am guessing that subject got your attention. And it is true I will no longer accept Avatar packs. There were over 1500 avatars in the database, numerous duplicates and most were not being used. So no more.

Instead I have patched and updated the avatar system to allow you to upload your own avatars. You may upload up to 4 avatars for personal use or select from the ones in the archive.

ALL uploaded avatars will be re-sized and cropped if necessary into a 100X100 JPG format file. Yes the avatars are now larger. You can use just about any bitmap image file. Animated images are not supported and the first cell will be used in most cases.

ALL avatars will be reviewed before they can be used and you will be notified via private message when your avatar has been approved.

I reserve and will exercise the right to reject an avatar for any reason I see fit. There will not be any appeals or arguments move on and try another if your avatar was rejected.

PS: you may need to clear your browser cache to see the larger avatars since the smaller sized ones of the same name were downloaded to your browser.

The next batch of changes planned will most likely be transparent to the user since they will be fixing and improving existing code in the forum. If you noticed I have converted most of the pop-up windows to modal ones (add a smilie to a message or click preview) and intend to at some point get rid of all modal and popups entirely most likely replacing them with ajax calls. But I need to fix and improve other things first.

I am ready to use my own version of the Superintendent avatar.

You might think that but not really. "Kids" from all days want to make an individual statement. I was (am) no different. Most of them are pretty good although I am sure some smart-ass (dumb-ass) will upload something unacceptable sooner or later. You will know who when they get banned.

you were too slow. it was approved just after you loaded the page. I have been sitting here watching the uploads and reviewing them as fast as they come in.

Well he means that you can set your avatar as anything in the "avatars" directory even if it hasn't been approved for that user. That is how I am using your avatar.

Exactly. I should have used that as an example instead :P

There is currently a way to set your avatar to one of another user but not to one that is not approved. I suppose I could change that. I never considered that people would be so protective of their particular avatar.
