This started with Halo 4, where they tried to give "back stories" to the multiplayer mode in the game.
The Halo 4 multiplayer was supposed to be a training simulation for the spartan IV's.

And now the Halo 5 multiplayer looks like some futuristic rugby game, with Giant Score-Boards .

Personally they seem like a waste of Dev time, a distraction, and over all back wards step for wanting to "Celebrate our Arena Multiplayer Legacy".

Thoughts? Opinions?

4.5/10 should be bad.

I just don't like how the multiplayer armour keeps getting uglier with each game. It's like they keep trying to outdo themselves in making bad designs and keep succeeding.

There is the heart of it all!
H4 had those awful clean and almost cartoon looking armors that just didn't do justice to what H3 and Reach had done.
Personally, I enjoyed the Reach custom armors, what with the overly large shoulder pieces and gritty theme, Halo 3 was good too though.

Also "no playable Elites"? Links?
-I kind of wish we could have another Arbiter or any mission out of the PoV of the Chief again, that was the twist in H2 that rivaled Halo CE's twist with the introduction of the flood.

I would say that Halo multiplayer explanations/backstory traces its roots back to Combat Evolved, rather than being an entirely new concept introduced in Halo 4. Chiron TL-34's in-game description is "Spartan clone training complex," after all, and we know that the canonical Spartans aren't clones.

All the S4's should be clones... that way they can explain why they suck so much. Although the original backstory before Fall of Reach sounds interesting, IIRC that book was put together in only a few months before the game came out.

They're recruited as adults, rather than indoctrinated when they're children.
