On the original HUD, there are 4 reloading dots that appear on the Banshee, Rocket Hog and Scorpion HUD when it reloads. I've recently been trying to create my own version of those dots, however I've run into a problem where all the dots on the new bitmap appear. Whilst studying the original, I noticed that its alpha is made up of 'pyramid' like shapes. Does anyone here have any insight on how to get custom dots working like the original? I would really appreciate it.

Crosshair overlays Sceny? ui\hud\master rounds.weapon_hud_interface, scroll down to crosshair overlays. The hud_reticle_warnings is there as an overlay in the Crosshair bitmap. thats the first time i've ever looked for that but it looks right to me.

The hud_reticle_warnings is there as an overlay in the Crosshair bitmap. thats the first time i've ever looked for that but it looks right to me. That's close but still not the right place to look, those reticle warnings work differently and are well understood. I've only gotten as far as you have, Sceny. I remember I looked at the bitmaps and thought "wtf". My first thought is that they'd work like a meter, considering that there are four you could use the sniper meters' alpha values and set up the dots to work that way, but this is just a work-around. Those mysterious pyramids are certainly something else and I have always been curious as to how they work. I'll take a closer look later today when I have time and see if I can come up with anything and post my results here. Maybe it's something in the way the bitmap is compiled, or the pyramids indicate direction. Edited by Jesse on Dec 8, 2015 at 03:04 PMAnother work-around might be to have four instances of a dot bitmap and set up the flash length and times to make it look like one dot appears, then the second, then the third, and finally when the fourth appears, they all disappear together after a brief time being concurrently shown. How about trying to compile one with grey grandents in random ways to figure out how it works ?
Like full white rgb, gradient alpha, the inverse, gradient1 way inverted alpha, gradient the other way etc...

So from the looks of it, Halo can have GIF's?
I went through all the sprite index bitmaps on the original texture (0-11), and could only find one bitmap that showed the 4 reload dots. This leads me to believe that Halo is somehow capable of having animated sprites.
Now the big question is, how to replicate them? There's definitely a lack of information in regards to this, and it's a huge pain not knowing what makes something so small and unimportant, that difficult to replicate.
I could try looking at this as if I were making a GIF, but then how would I even make Halo recognise it?
Sigh... This is a huge pain >.<

I am sure people would be interested in adapting the method for other uses.
