Hello. Yeah, I'm a n00b. I have done some moderate modding before though.
I was working on importing some new assets into beaver creek (just for me, and for fun.) and of course consecutively testing it. Once the map was ready (I only need to work on some weapon placement) I decided to backup the cache file. It was not in my maps folder. Here's the rundown of how the map can be seen:
Ingame (playable) In guerrilla's file browser (where it should be, along with every other compiled map that I cannot see without the HEK editing tools)
I am having the same issue with the .scenario. It can be seen in:
In Sapien's file browser (where it should be) In guerrilla's file browser (where it should be) In tool (the scenario can compile).
Neither can be seen in windows explorer and command prompt cannot see them either (I tried to copy it and it gave me the "the system cannot find the file specified" thing. Edited by Heatguts on Jun 6, 2014 at 08:06 AM

Right-click "refresh" in maps folder, re-sort the list by "Name." This *may* have happened to me once but I don't remember spending more than 30 seconds before I found it.

Yeah, I had this problem too. Running everything as administrator fixed it, but I guess that's just a trick that you have to know and isn't really stated in tutorials.

Ive had this problem before as well, best way to fix it is to find a program such as guerilla that can see the map. go to open map, find the file in guerilla, copy it in guerillas open map file then paste it into your documents, the map/ scenario will now appear.
