I know we all hate tool, but I think this time is drunk.

I am creating the city center of pripyat, due to the low power of BSP render has, I decided to make a building into a scenery object... well this building is JUST FINE! But Tool says it has open edges, I used STL check (I know, is not accurate most times) I imported my building into UDK and it has no Collision problems, I tested it in CryEngine and it has no problems either. I imported the .wrl file and well some edges are tiny, but they´re not open really... the whole model dont have open edges. So I have this 2 questions...

1.- ¿Can you select an edge by poly number in 3ds max? The building has 50,000 edges so I want to find the edges that tool says are open by just typing the number and 3ds max will automatically select the edge.

2.- If someone have used Unreal 3, is there a way to export the collision of the model?

Thanks

I fixed it.... it took me long time, but welding the edges didn´t work.

You can find open edges using xview.

I fixed it, but that dont means tool wasnt drunk, after fixing "open edges" tool started to throw me overlapping surfaces when there were no overlaping surfaces on the model.... However thanks for the help

Then why other 3D engines compiled the collision perfectly?

Because they do not care open sealed world rules - however in those engines its still a good idea to follow them, they aren't necessary. Halo requires them however.

And no, you cant export models back out from UDK.

One question. Is your building made out of modular pieces?

ftfy. Once content is packaged, it can be extracted (sounds/textures/models/animations); though afaik collision can't.

ah yuh my bad. I was also thinking about cooked packages too.

This is why I am leaving this blam engine.

I just need to buy hard drive and power supply.

Well actually all engines have problems that you will always hate... I still like Blam! But I must admit Halo is a "pussssssy" in the collision topic, however I got it working.
