The Halo CE Essentials Map Pack
This Map Pack is a compilation of many Halo Custom Edition Maps that I found were of high quality and were favored by most of the Halo CE community. These maps were made by numerous authors over the many years Halo Custom Edition has been released. I made this map compilation because I find that most of Halo Custom Editions servers play only stock maps while there is an abundance of great user created maps. I'm hoping this may change that. I've tried to pick maps that are of high quality and could reasonably be compared to the quality of official maps.

I highly recommend downloading HAC 2 so you can download maps to servers that are playing maps you don't have. Download here: http://blog.haloanticheat.com/
I also recommend downloading Open Sauce which you can get here: http://www.nexusmods.com/halo/mods/7/?

A New Menu

The Universal UI is by: MoooseGuy & CMT
This is an essential, it allows you to play many Halo Custom Edition single player maps and firefight maps simply. I won't be providing any of the maps supported by Universal UI, because you can download them here: http://hce.halomaps.org/

Link to Universal UI forum thread: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=42450

Installation/Requirements
You need a Halo Custom Edition, which you can download here: http://www.nexusmods.com/halo/mods/4/?
You also need a computer that can handle Halo Custom Edition. For a reference, the requirements for Halo Combat Evolved are listed below (most computers made after the mid-2000s can handle it).

Minimum system requirements

Computer/Processor: 733 megahertz (MHz) processor.
DirectX: DirectX® 9.0 or later. (DirectX 9.0b is installed by Halo.)
Memory: 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM.
Hard Disk: 1.2 gigabytes (GB) of free hard disk space.
Video card: 32 MB with 3D Transform and Lighting capable.
CD: 8X.
Sound: Sound card, speakers, or headphones with multiplayer play.
*56.6 Kilobytes per second (KBps) modem or 10 MB network adapter. Multiplayer servers require broadband to run a server.
*Additionally, you must have an Internet Service provider (ISP) or a Local Area Network (LAN), if you want to play multi-player games.

Assuming you have Halo Custom Edition installed and know how to open up .zip files/extract from .zip files, here's how you install the map pack (or any Halo Custom Edition maps for that matter).

*skip to final step if you know the location of your Halo Custom Edition installation
1. Click the start button or open up windows explorer.

2. Click on computer

3. Click on the storage device you installed Halo Custom Edition to, in most cases this should be "Local Disk (C:)".

4. Depending on your system, you may have two folders called program files. If you have one called Program Files (x"numbers here") click on that. If you only have one program files folder click on that (even if it doesn't have the numbers).

5. Click on a folder called "Microsoft Games"

6. Click on the folder named "Halo Custom Edition" NOT HALO. It should look something like this: Computer>Local Disk (C:)>Program Files>Microsoft Games>Halo Custom Edition

7. Now extract all the ".map" files to the folder called maps. All the .map files are within the folder named maps inside the .zip you downloaded. If it asks to replace UI.map or any other .map files click "Move and Replace". If you have WinRar, you can just open up the .zip and drag and drop all the .map files to your maps folder in Halo Custom Edition.

There you go, your new maps are awaiting, go into Halo Custom Edition and check if those maps installed properly. If the Universal UI shows up, you installed the maps correctly. If it doesn't, go through the instructions again and back track where you probably made a mistake. If you are still having issues, send me a message, if a problem keeps happening, I will probably make an FAQ or revise the install instructions.

Considering most of the maps with those tags are of very low quality and standards, no it didn't. Foundry is a good example of a later Halo game port, hence why it is included.

The map list looks fantastic, kudos to you.

I'm a little disappointed that you're not putting either OpenSauce or HAC2 into the package...
But besides that, great map choices! It's about time we have a good map pack for Custom Edition~

I'll try to get in contact with Btcc22 and get permission. I'll try to add it in as an update for the main file.

You could have just said sarcasm by saying 50% it just sounds like u want either HR maps or Halo 4 maps

Single Player Essentials...

I'll probably do a Firefight essentials first, mainly because I would rather have the single-player maps be uploaded by the map creators, but I'll look into it.

The servers usually work fine, but I can't really help with that, because not my website. If you really want the maps, all of them can be downloaded here on halomaps.

Quote: --- Original message by: Clicker but, what about Ivory Tower, Sali Creek, Prime C3, Portent, or Snowtorn Cove? .

Sali Creek would be pretty redundant for an "essential" considering that its a remake of a map included by default in Halo CE.

Portent was actually included in the list.

Personally I believe Wartorn Cove 3 is a much better version of the map for its competitiveness.

The rest of the maps I also agree on.

Quote: --- Original message by: ClickerAnd maybe elaborate more about what HAC 2 and OS are for; personally I wouldn't suggest these at all.

HAC 2 is a great install simply for the automatic map downloader. If you want more people to start playing more custom maps, this seems like a pretty logical solution other than doing it the normal way.

I honestly can't imagine anyone thinking that about my post. I think it's pretty obvious: The part where I say that it's a very nice selection is true, the part where I say that it needed some Reach and H4 maps is not.

The CMT that made this map was the Custom Mapping Team. Please fix this error.

Delta Ruined by: Arteen
Delta Ruined is a small asymmetric map set in the ruins of Delta Halo. Recommended All Gametypes except Race (4v4) [SMALL]

Did you know there is also a CMT G3 version of this map? Everything was edited for the better, IMO. Did you consider it?

Other than those two concerns, I agree with many of the decisions. Though are you sure you considered all possible choices? I'd hate to turn this into a competition (because we all know people would suggest terrible maps,) but, what about Ivory Tower, Sali Creek, Prime C3, or Wartorn Cove 3? Both CMT's, GAIGHER, Arteen and Jahrain all make tons of maps that all deserve consideration. Thanks for picking a lot of the maps I made. <3

But why do you post minimum requirements? What people really need to know are the recommended. Something more like just under original Xbox specs. And maybe elaborate more about what HAC 2 and OS are for; personally I wouldn't suggest these at all.

Edit- revised map suggestions
Edited by Clicker on Dec 23, 2013 at 06:52 AM

I will edit those errors asap. I just copied the author from the halomaps page. I will replace delta ruined with the G3 version on the same update that will include HAC 2 (I couldn't find the G3 version while I was in a rush, that's why it isn't on the list), I spent a while typing this up so forgive me for the errors I left. Also about the map suggestions, I cut a lot of maps or else there would've been like 50+ maps. I might release more packs with some of the suggested maps. Also I'm going to leave the specs as is, mostly because most computers can handle it. I have permission to add HAC 2 so expect that to be added soon to the main file.

Immure 2 fixed alot of stuff wrong with the origional one, its a shame it isn't played more. People just like flying vehicle to blow stuff up with. Can't blame them either; they are very cool looking (but so is a flamer hog).

So if you have anything that you think needs to be fixed please post what needs to be in the update.
