Keep in mind that the SMG's foregrip is supposed to be able to fold up beneath the weapon. For the knife, I suggest looking at the machete on Halo's difficulty selection emblem, the knife used in Reach's assassinations, or modern combat knives. As it is now, it looks more like a kitchen knife with a random nub.

Ok I have big news. Really big.
Recently, I have found someone who has done impressive Unity shaders and HDR lighting in Unity. So asked him if wanted to join my team. He accepted. But then he told me what he actually has done. He has been researching all about game engine graphics, including UDK lighting and Cryengine graphics. He has taken this knowledge and implemented them into the Unity Engine's source code! Yes! We are now talking about a very improved render engine for Unity. Basically, Installation 01 is now going to give the Cryengine a run for its money!

That's cool and all but I'd rather see you guys come out with some quality finished models first. Right now is this project just in the pre-production phase where you guys are learning the engine and how to work it?

We are in production. The weapons and main spartan are currently being made. We have multiplayer working over the internet which you can shoot and kill in.

The whole idea that there should be some sort of competition between the two engines is very childish. The point is to have another halo made with great multiplayer and/or singleplayer if you are going that route. You now have lighting comparable to that of pretty much any game of today. Your game could still be just another lame shooter if achieving cryengine looks is your primary concern. If you are going to decide which is better, then please have more of a game to show off that pride with. I would also not recommend fighting with that fossy guy as he was one of the members stating that all should move to cryengine, but in a demanding tone leaving the fact behind that his IQ is below that of a hamster.

@General 101: The main focus of the game is gameplay and mechanics. Right now I01 is going to have a halo 3 feel gameplay wise (we'll make our own changes later on in maybe late alpha or early beta). We don't want the game to suffer from the "grey level syndrome" so we have to focus a bit on the art side which does include the lighting and shader techniques. If Rapture from Bioshock didn't have all the color and mood painted by the lighting, the world of Rapture wouldn't look nearly as good. Point is we want the game to be great to play and not be hard on the eyes of those who really care about the extra graphical things.
@fossy It's a placeholder and will be replaced with custom assets. If you feel the need to tell Microsoft about how a small fan game is temporarily using their assets, tell them about how you also wanted to port Halo CE to cryengine. I'm sure they'll listen to you ever so closely and do as you command.sarcasm

He is kinda right though. Project Contingency is severely overhyped when barely any content has been shown and the general audience treats the devs like gods for bringing Halo to PC (as if that hasn't been happening for the past 10 years.) Also I cringe when people spit out biased and uniformed statements like 'omg so much better than halo 4 343 sux' just because it's a 3rd party game.
Whenever I think about this stuff it makes me hate the halo community. I mean I love these games but jesus the fanbase is so obnoxious.
