Just wondering what the legal rights are for redistributing the Halo CE installer, as somebody(mootjuh) has uploaded it, along with HEK, Open Sauce and Mystic to Nexusmods.(probably without permission)

http://www.nexusmods.com/halo/mods/4/?

If anybody knows, and if it is illegal, I would suggest reporting it on the Nexus page.

Yeah what he said.

As long as proper credit is given for OS and Mystic then it's just another mirror to those things. Halomaps might not be around forever.........

I gave it to someone at one point a while ago, so if anything should happen to moots then it should come my way too.

It's completely fine to distribute it. If you remember correctly, you can download the .exe all you want. Your still going to need a CD key.

I really wish they would just get rid of the CD Key requirement... the game is 10 years old. In fact, I'd be surprised if they even do anything if a CD key were to be bundled with a map release. You use to be able to install the game with a CD key of all 0's.. lol.

You keep saying free, but there is in fact a stipulation. You need a CD key, and that costs money. Sure it doesn't cost money to download it, but it does cost you. Unless of course you are saying it didn't cost you anything because you are a pirate scum?

The game is worth $1.50 online and in some game stores like GameStop and EB games. The gas you waste to drive there is worth more than the game you would be buying. The Shipment will cost more than TWICE of the game you ordered. Sadly I got it for 30 bucks, wish I knew 5 years ago that i could get it for less than what a Toblerone costs.

QQ more, I bought 2 copies back in 2007 when they were 20 bucks. It's a great game and worth the money.

Halo: Custom Edition is free. There is the stipulation of requiring a CD key from a purchase of Halo: Combat Evolved, as you said, but that does not mean Custom Edition costs money. Halo: Combat Evolved has the stipulation of requiring a computer, but that doesn't mean Combat Evolved costs $330.

You do not have to own a computer to own a copy of Halo PC. Just like people don't have to own a cow to have milk. You don't seem to understand what free is.

You don't have to own a copy of Halo PC to own Halo CE. It's a free download on this site. You might not be able to play it, but you'd still have it. Because it's free.
