Nexusmods is now accepting more games for the mod list. My idea was to add Halo Custom Edition and make the mod be a compile containing some good custom maps, the Universal UI, and a link to Halomaps and its forum. Think of it as a Halo Custom Edition starter kit (for players, no HEK related stuff). As such I'm requesting map suggestions and basic approval from the community to go through with adding Halo CE to their mod list. I already accidentally sent Halo Custom Edition in for approval.

I think it's a great idea, and the UI should most def be included along with Lumoria and the firefight maps listed in it. The whole purpose of it was to make SP and FF maps more easily accessible to the average player who is new to the game.

Lumoria, any other good sp levels, immure, deltaruins, and yoyorast island. Then include HAC 2 for automatic map downloading.

This a great idea! Give them HEK and bloodgulch. I can already smell the new mods cooking.

Halo Combat Evolved is now on the Nexus. It's under Halo Combat Evolved, not Custom Edition though (most likely because the site admin figured Halo Custom Edition falls under Halo Combat Evolved), but you can now upload mods to the Nexus. I'll probably get around to the Halo starter kit this weekend because I have some finals to do. Also this starter kit is for the player, not map creators. This way we could maybe get a few extra players to play custom maps instead of stock ones.

Please leave recommendations, I'm aiming at about 15 MP maps and all the SP maps featured in the Universal UI. Some of the ones I have now that are kind of my personal picks are: Immure (most likely v2 because it doesn't have those flying things), Cliffhanger Final, CMT Snow Grove, h3 Foundry, and a few others, but the ones I named are permanent additions.

Recommendations for a starter kit? That'd be extremely huge honestly. I wouldn't include every map in the Universal UI (there's a lot). Just like 10-15 mps and like Lumoria and maybe stock for SP.

I'll upload Takedown and Lumoria this weekened as packages.

I was thinking on making the majority of the maps optional ad-ons and having the main download be MP maps and classic, lumoria, and takedown (spv3 isn't out obviously, so I would just add that as an update). Also I can split up the package into Multiplayer Essentials, Single Player Essentials, Firefight Essentials, and Single Player Map Pack.

I'll see if I can somehow get contact with the site admin and see if we could get some extra stuff for CE's page (a background and some exposure would be nice). So anyways, here is the news: I have the list for the main download done, I'm planning on releasing an optional file with 5 extra maps so if you don't see a map on the main file it might be on the optional file. The optional file is for maps that didn't really fit with the other maps to me, but were fun and enjoyable for different reasons. So here's the list.

Main File

  • Revelations

  • Requiem

  • Precipice

  • Portent

  • Launch Bay X

  • Immure 2

  • H3 Foundry

  • Garden CE

  • Deltaruins

  • Cmt Snow Grove

  • Cmt G3 Vestigial

  • Cmt G3 MouseTrap

  • Cliffhanger Final

  • CamtrackArena

  • Autumn Slay

Optional File (so far)

  • Frosty Assault

  • Yoyorast (not sure which version)

  • New Mombasa Classic

  • Ambush

  • H3 Core

Everything is up for change, but I'm kind of happy with the current list. I chose the map based on personal opinion, polish, and the general opinions of CE's community. I would put more maps, but that would just be too big for an essentials list. The main file's .ZIP size is 362 MB.

EDIT: After giving a little bit of thought after posting this, I'm going to bump up the optional file to 10 maps so leave some suggestions of maps that stray off from traditional play style, but are polished and pertain to the Halo ascetic or Modern visual style.
