Hey guys, I recently got a new laptop to use and put Halo CE on it. Long story short, I cannot see the chat what so ever. I can't see what I'm typing, and I cannot see the ingame dialouge from other players or the server. I tried installing the mxml parser, but it kept erroring while installing. (Windows 7 64bit). Everything is up to date, v1.09, and I am also running HAC, although I also use it on my main PC, so I'm not sure if that could be a problem.

To add to that actually, I am using vidmode. Since I wanted to run it at my native res, 1366 x 768. Could this be the problem?

To be more precise it's located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\redist

@higuy never buy laptop when it comes to gaming because I have been experience same thing however I am building top quality PC for first time for cry engine 3 and many other games. You can do it if you had the patient.

Higuy already has a good enough desktop, he needed a laptop for more portability around campus and such with his work. I showed him the http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y410p/ since it still has a ridiculous deal on it and is a fantastic laptop. Of course he installed Windows 7 in place of 8, but otherwise he did no real further editing/tinkering.

Higuy I never use vidmode like, ever. Doesn't OS allow for more resolutions and should give you the 768p you want? Unless someone has already mentioned this or I'm quite mistaken.

Like ODX said, I already have a pretty nice desktop computer. I bought the laptop for portability when I am at college.

Lastly, I disabled vidmode and nothing changed... I will try the redist inside the Halo CE folder later when I get home.

I actually had problems with this too, I think its because of the server, because whenever I lagged back then, the chat vanished

I managed to fix it by installing the redistribute found in the folder. For some reason that one seemed to work.

While the OP has already fixed his problem, I generally recommend people download MSXML 4.0 SP3 instead. It is still supported by MS (meaning that it gets updates and security fixes) unlike SP2 (which ended support in 2010), and can be used in place of MSXML 4.0 SP2 with the same functionality.

Do note that you should uninstall SP2 first before downloading and installing SP3.
