no I have.
I just think they bring up some good points in createing halo like puting the cheaf in enviorments that he fit's in and other points about the creation of halo. & the journy! Like they say he's already a hero so now where do we take him? I sort of like to take him back in time personaly one day I will relese a project im working on and show you what i mean but untill then...
I just wanted to share the video It's a good reminder comeing from other people who where also not the orignal halo makers. none the less working on halo. this game is only as good as we make it! and it's only as good as the pepole your working with ovioustly the actors & there relationships together alone play a huge key role in halo but so do the 3d artests. it's when people and there skills come together that greatness happens!
although people talk constantly about wanting updates to the halo engen & hek there is still alot of amasing things posible today that was not possible years ago with newer softwhare like 3ds max 2014.
It's geting hard to tell what is real and what is cg these days!

for instance! Edited by jackrabbit on Oct 25, 2013 at 12:23 PM i personally hate that they used mocap for some of the game, animation is part of the art of the game, it's part of the experience, and it's part of the immersion. mocap is the bane of animation, and it limits the artist's creativity. while i believe in using mocap for referencing, it's just plain wrong to use mocap in a game.

Mocap is used to save dozen of hours off of the animators' time. Instead of them keyframing, risk screwing crap up and having to edit it and all that, they can get actors instead who have training on how to move and...well, act.
Animators are really used to just go back and edit those mocapped animations for the most part, as well as animate tons of other little tidbits but nothing nearly as time consuming as hundreds of lengthy animations for the Chief.

Mocap is really expensive. What was that thing 343i normaly use for their motion capture body?

Quote: --- Original message by: vampire_girl I must be in the minority that prefers hand-made keyframe animation and death animations over ragdoll. i'm right there too, realistic and quality ragdolls take tons of time and effort and testing and even after all that they're never perfect. animations lack variety however because devs never give them the extra variants and attention they deserve. to each their own

Mocap is really expensive. What was that thing 343i normaly use for their motion capture body? It tends to be a tradeoff between money and production time a lot. Also yeah, mocap isn't THAT expensive, depending on the quality of the equipment you buy and the staff you either have with you to do it or people you have to bring in. It varies. Seeing as 343i is directly funded by the behemoth known as Microsoft, I'm sure it's not a huge problem to them.
