These arguments about OS not providing enough to be worth it are simply ridiculous.
OS takes up what... 300mb? If you can't dedicate such a small amount of space, I doubt you can fit much at all on your PC. Maybe you shouldn't waste 8GB of your precious space on Halo?
OS has no compatibility issues left. It's only issue was that it wouldn't work with Xfire. That is now solved. There's no more reason not to use it.
Also, splitting the community shouldn't be a concern. If Kornman gave permission to anyone to include either a downloader or the OS installer itself with their maps, any players could install OS with ease. Otherwise, you could always include a link to OS in your map's readme file.

The game Is approaching 9 years old. That's more than enough time for you to have upgraded your computer. If you can't play a game with slightly enhanced graphics and a bigger BSP, it's safe to say that you can't play any modern game and, therefore, there's no point of even complaining. I'm using a 6 year old Frankenstein laptop with Ubuntu Linux and i'm capable of running OpenSauce and Halo Via wine. Your argument is invalid unless you're using Windows 2000.Why are you suddenly talking about hardware specs? Never have I stated that my computer is incapable of anything. It ran Crysis 2 just fine, I think it can handle OS.In an argument, you're supposed to assess one's claim and determine their reasoning behind it. If you understand the argument in and out, you can tear one to pieces with a single statement. That's called a red herring. Usually, when you're defending your competence, you're supposed to supply us with your reasoning, rather than making bold claims. If I make the same bold claims back to you, you are in NO way permitted to speak out against me, as you were the one who initiated the slander.-Program still in beta... If people don't test a software in it's beta form, you won't have feedback for the final version. Most of the Halo CE community hold Halo 2/3 to a standard of godliness and have to base everything off Halo 2/3's design. Halo 2 had a beta Via the Ilovebees promotion and Halo 3 had a beta Via Crackdown. Your logic is invalid yet again. Tell me why I have to be a guinea pig for those asshats at Modacity? Keep doing whatever it is you think you're doing.Once again, do you think that these things will be tested if no one uses them? Do you have any idea how the world works? I swear I'm losing braincells as I'm reading your posts. Next, you're going to tell me that car manufacturers don't crash-test their cars before shipping them to dealerships.-Installation and troubleshooting is NOT intuitive... File an issue. Usually in cases where you can't install something, it's user error. Read the requirements of OS, read what you need to implement it into Halo CE and act accordingly. Don't blame OS for your lack of a good computer. It costs less than 100$ to upgrade to a decent graphics card nowadays. Go out and get one if you need it. I like how you think we are the people who should be held accountable for the OS devs' problems. And explain to me how this conversation suddenly turned into a debate over how good my PC is, again? If you feel that there is an error in Open Sauce, it is your prerogative to supply them with as much information needed to fix these errors. If you're not able to do that, then you can AT LEAST indicate to them where the errors are. Open Sauce shouldn't be copyright protected if it's within Microsoft's content usage policy. You CAN look into Open Sauce on your own and assess the problems first-hand and then inform the creators about said "problems". Once again, do you think problems are removed with the press of a button? If everyone keeps quiet about what's wrong with a product, the product will never be fixed. You're digging yourself into a ditch and complaining that the dirt's caving in on you.
-Official website is garbage... What an oxy-moron, you are. You're complaining about a bad website on a relatively bad website. Lol. English dude, go learn some. Halomaps may be hit or miss in some aspects, but the OS website is hit and miss everywhere. It's a mess and finding things takes forever there, not here."English dude, go learn some." If something is "Hit or miss", that indicates that in some situations it succeeds and in others it fails. Thus, saying that "the OS website is hit and miss" everywhere, you're basically saying the exact same thing you said about Halomaps. You cannot always hit and always miss. L2Paradox-Rely on thirdparty people such as Masterz to give us our news or help. You have a computer. Email FS ffs. I'm pretty sure Win2000 has that built in email application.Did I miss something about beta testers getting paid for their work? No? Then shut up.Do you require payment for usage of freeware? In a lot of cases, the person who partakes in the beta is NOT the one who gets paid. Actually, they usually are the ones that are paying. For instance; Purchasing "Medal of Honor: Warfighter" granted you access to the Battlefield 4 beta program. Was "Medal of Honor" free? No. It's called right of passage and whether you think you're getting the beta for free or not, EA is still laughing it's ass all the way to the bank with the money it got from it. There are plenty of people who buy games and software alike, simply to opt-in to beta programs. Crackdown's initial success was granted by the Halo fan's demand for Halo 3 Beta. Without it, they would have never had the money to make Crackdown 2. Guess what? Crackdown sold at retail prices in stores.-Benefits of installing OS are not amazing or worthwhile other than normal mapped guns, which... http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/7643/haloce2012082800121655.png http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/3526/haloce2012080301570404.jpg Point Taken-Super nice looking guns set against a dull background (crap map) look terrible. (People here were never good at shaders to start with.) Who told you that you HAVE to make your map look terrible? There's no law that states "All OS users must make box-maps" or "All OS users must suck at applying shaders." Can you please 86 the bold statements (oxy-moron as this response is in bold)Ask any member of CMT or ZTeam and they will assure you that a majority of the community wouldn't know what to do with good tags if it slapped them in the face. Crap maps are everywhere and OS weapons are filling them up. So there are one or two good ones by CMT, big whoop.A majority of the community is inept in certain departments. That's why "map teams" are created. Did you think that CMT banded together simply for the purpose of "looking cool" on a decade old game? No. They realized each others strengths and weaknesses understood that they could dish out much more content for Halo if they collaborated. Also, if you haven't already noticed; Alot of these mapteams that DID make good tags were stingy with what they had. Half the time, we'd have to leak half their tags in order to even get them. The problem isn't the inexperience of the members. It's the lack of co-operation.-Bloom is something that can still be done without OS, easily. Vanilla Halo w/o bloom http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20091020035025/halo/images/a/a5/Blood_gulch.jpg Vanilla Halo with bloom http://www.optimizeperformance.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/White-Background-Xtra.jpg You sure showed folks how it's done. What the hell are you going on about? It's a hyperbole, illustrating the excessive amount of "bloom" in Vanilla Halo. Though they aren't all like this, a great number of them are. Oversaturation, Too much contrast, and sunspots are the typical "enb" setup, unless they used Resident Evil's config or tweaked San Andreas a bit.-AI still doesn't sync online. Netcode is still garbage. That's not OS's problem. OpenSauce wasn't created for the sole purpose of improving the netcode of a 12 year old game. It's a Netcode. It cannot be fixed, server-side, unless everyone inside of that map with the AI had said improvement on their system. Even then, they'd all have to have perfect connection to the game and have all had to join the game at the same time. That, or you could try an RCONIf OS doesn't fix some of the most important issues Halo has, then it's not worth my time to dedicate my install to it. How you justify it is not my concern.Halo CE has a plethora of glitches as it is. Your reasoning is flawed. Unlike Halo CE, there WILL be future updates of Open Sauce. Halo CE stopped at V1.09, which is why a lot of these glitches are present. In fact, it's safe to say that the errors in Open Sauce are directly influenced by Microsoft's blatant neglect of Halo CE.
-Fix one compatibility problem, cause another. That's why it's in beta. Do you honestly think that Halo just ships as soon as it's finished? No. A big portion of game development is gauging how many bugs in a game can be labelled as acceptable and deciding what bugs CAN be fixed in future updates, without discouraging the User-base. If games took time to eliminate every bug before launching, Halo 3 would've came out in 2012, Halo 2 would've came out in 2009, Halo 1 would've come out in 2005. No harm no foul, right? Wrong. Without Halo 2's influence, Xbox live wouldn't have been as big as it is now. As a result, Microsoft wouldn't have partnered with Bungie/343 for so long and chances are, Halo 3 would have NEVER been exclusive to Xbox and Xbox would've never continued it's live service and most likely would have never created the Xbox 360 due to insufficient capital. So explain to me why I must contribute to their beta testing effort. You're rationalizing something irrational. Please indicate to me where i stated that you needed to beta test in those two paragraphs. I've simply stated that without beta testing of any kind, a game will be full of flaws, bugs, and glitches. Frankly, I don't care if you don't beta test for Open Sauce. What I do care about, however, are your puerile attempts to discourage others from Open Sauce because of your opinion. It's a WORK IN PROGRESS. That means that it's not done yet, since you clearly don't understand what "Beta" means. You cannot expect it to be perfect when held in the light. But you know what? Loafing around on the site won't get Open Sauce fixed either. Unlike this site and unlike Halo Custom Edition as a whole, Open Sauce is being incessantly updated for the sole purpose of ensuring that the users are able to push Halo CE to it's limit. Icenhancer was in it's beta stages for a while. What if everyone just said "Oh, it's not worth it. Screw Icenhancer." What if everyone just said "Why should I waste 10 minutes of my life to install Real Lifesis beta on my computer?" I'll show you what would happen. Two 6 year old games would not have been the STANDARD for amazing graphics in modern gaming.I rest my case. Edited by AllySuzumiya on May 7, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Soo if someone creates a comeback, you simply ignore it because you don't have any arguments to counter that comeback? Sounds more like hes realizing he hasn't made an argument, and acknowledging that hes just spamming the thread.

Or that I don't want to further converse with that dumbass. Did you not read the most recent arguments that Aly made? They were logical and well thought out. Your response was a single word and the stupid picture. That was why I commented. Edited by Bobblehob on May 9, 2013 at 12:27 AM

No, seriously, I'm pretty sure a huge fraction of that number use OpenSauce to play maps, not make them. And Salamance, I've stopped arguing with you because I ran out of Ultra balls.. Also, stupidity. I'm not a good debater. I'm just good at being long-winded and making "trolls" rage-quit. My view on OpenSauce is that without it, Spv3 would be just ANOTHER Halo campaign remake.. Like we haven't seen enough of those.

The newest OS supports it. I don't know if it's a public release, I think it is.
I only have OS installed so I can play the new CMT maps.

And also you can use the comand line -no_os_gfx (just like you use -console) to disable every OS graphic enhancement, that way you can play YELO with decent-good FPS.
I just have OS for the customizable weapon position, LOL!
