Hey guys,
I'm curious if it is possible to render lights on scenery and device pieces in sapien, and then run them through tool. If it is possible, can you provide an explanation on how to do it?
Much thanks in advance!

Wouldn't work on a model that uses the same texture space in two spots.
Foundry's crates use the same texture space in two spots, the sides and the front\back.

What about making it a device_light_fixture?

This wouldn't work for a piece of scenery that has overlapping uvw planes (most symmetrical objects). It would look unnatural.

It would be possible, but you would need a different shader and texture for each scenery you place, which takes a lot of memory. Edited by Mootjuh on May 5, 2013 at 06:11 AM Wow it's almost like I said that exact thing! Oh no, I actually did. Quote: --- Original message by: OrangeJuice What about making it a device_light_fixture? Relevance? Relevance? Alright, what about this, make the scenery part of the bsp. Only if you make sure to get rid of any overlapping faces, open edges, ect. In a render model, there tends to be tons of these issues, and if you make it BSP it might not be sealed, and it may cause portal issues.
