Hay I just got 3ds max 2014 Because I was having issues with v8 in win8. and I just wanted to ask am I going to be limited in anyway. with the HEK.

I read some people have issues with anything past 2010. But I figure if your going to upgrade go big or go home.

3ds max is quite a high $ peace. Unless your a student In which case I am not.

okay, get this;

halo, released 2001, is over 10 years old.

3ds max 2014 is recent. game devs want more functionality and ease-of-use in terms of modern engine support. why would autodesk continue supporting 10-year-old engines when modern engines need the functionality more? so we can have bloodgulch v14?

plus, signing up as a student is free and doesn't actually require student status.

2014 is a modern freely available version that actually supports .wrl imports. This is really going to be useful for us as the blam engine uses .wrls to highlight errors in geometry that tool finds. The only alternative to this is the blender 2.4x series or any version passed 2010 so good luck getting your hands on that.

I've tried 2014, NOPE! Just no. They changed too many things, the WRL support is not worth it, I'd rather have max 2010 32-bit then.
Wait What's wrong?

again, autodesk has no obligation to cater to people who still mod old engines; modern engines and movies require more functions and better functionality than you may be used to.

Windows 8 is the most terrible OS I have even set my eyes/hands on, it's too much like using a windows phone, IT'S GAAAAAAY!!!!!

In side note, when the hell is Blitzkrieg going to be updated to work with newer versions of Max?

Any major difference between 2014, over 2013? Because that's what I use, I don't experience any difficulties using it.

I dont know why people hate win8. atleast 8.1 is bringing back the start button jeez.

It's not the same - 8.1 start button only leads to more win8 gimmicks. People don't like change.
