Can anyone tell me how to go about animating grass, or foliage scenery in general like trees swaying etc? I know how to do basic scenery animations, like for instance a door opening and stuff, but as far as grass or trees like the pine tree animations go I'm stumped lol. Here's an example of what I'm talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbo4q_TUlbw

Wolf, it's been a long time. Hope you still remember me. And yes, create an animated scenery of a bunch of grass foliage instead of using detail objects.

Yup I remember you, been a while. I've started working on my map again. Be posting a thread on it soon. Thanks DSalimander, I'll try that.

I have played around with this stuff a bit. It doesn't go very well if you try using bunches of seperate objects. I had the best luck with a few larger clumps that were pre-set to match certain areas of the terrain.
That is my personal experience with it anyway.
