It's been a good journey. I've appreciated this community since 2006, but I think it's time for me to move on and play with other engines. As much as I love Halo Custom Edition, the engine has too many limitations. Even though open sauce is an alternative, I would be better off achieving my needed results with newer engines. I also feel as if the HEK is stopping my progression as a learning artist due to those limitations.

I'm not speaking bad about Halo Custom Edition. I'm just letting you all know why I'm retiring from Halo Custom Edition mapping.

I will continue monitoring this site, because this is where I was born as an artist.

Thank you all.

May I suggest using UDK it's a very good engine for starters. Even though IMO the BLAM Engine has been the most difficult engine ever to use.

Sad to see you go but look on the bright side, CE is growing and is getting better daily.

When one leaves more will come to replace and make more.

So journey on King and succeed where ever the game design road takes you.

Maybe Source if you've got the desire to do so.

Rub it in the haughty Facepunch members' faces.

I tried out UDK, and it is easy to use (to my opinion). I will try out cryengine next (I love it, in terms of tech).

As for source, I would love to make a few maps for the Deathrun, Zombies, The Hidden, and Trouble in Terrorist Town mods. Although, I was having difficulties making maps for source back in the days (I believe it is easier now).

It's all about experimenting right now. But I think I'm most interested with Cryengine.

I will probably create a map making tutorial for the Halo CE community before I leave. It won't be anything special. It would just be about creating maps that are similar in detail to the classic halo maps. None of that Halo 3 highly detailed stuff. I know most of you wanted me to finish that forerunner tutorial, but I think if I created something simple, then most of the community would have a better understanding.

This is kind of off-topic, but if you all want to follow me on youtube, just search PopeAK49 and my profile will show up. My channel will host Gaming Commentary (Mostly for horror games if you are interested), and 3d artwork tutorials.

Thanks again guys.

I'm very interested in the source engine personally. (maybe because im a diehard HL fan). UDK and CryEngine 3 SDK I jumped right into, and made some very high quality content at first attempts. However every time I wanna take a break from halo I find myself going to source.

Sadly no.

If I can find any 3d models, I will upload them for you guys.

I feel that I can contribute one last time by making a few tutorials for the current and new users.

Other than that, I'm not messing around with the HEK any more.

Thanks for your efforts pope, without you Lumoria's most awesome encounter would have been alot less imposing :-)

I'm interested to see where you go next with new engines and whatnot. Personally I reckon CryEngine3 is really good for artists, and its well documented in the asset creation domain!
