Concerning my difficulty getting HALO CE to run again after reinstalling on my laptop following a crash. I googled every topic and forum, tried everything under the sun, but to no avail.

It seems that the problem I was having involved the Displaylink Core Software that was installed on my VAIO laptop. The dlumd32.dll file associated with this program would not let HALO2 be installed tonight, and somehow it confused the program installation by associating itself as being the display driver.

There was no uninstall file for Displaylink, either through the control panel programs or in the program directory. I had to go to displaylink.com and download a "cleaner" to remove the dang thing via a CMD window. After removal, HALO2 installed without any trouble, and Halo CE opened right up like it once did.

I don't know how many others had this problem, and it may just be related to Sony VAIO, but I sure do wish that I had tried installing HALO2 a couple of weeks ago! Dennis, you might need to add a postscript concerning this issue since someone else may have the same problems that plagued me for so long.
