Just goes to show the stale state of the industry and perhaps more importantly its reviewing magazines. A ton of better games than Halo 4 came out this year, at least in my modest opinion.

thats saddening, not that i'm not happy that a halo game won a game of the year but it really should have been either farcry 3, borderlands 2, or dishonored. halo 4 was not a great game and following the same logic halo 2, 3, and odst should have won the same because they are all better games.

At least VGA came to their senses and gave an actually decent indie game GOTY award.

By the way, the who hell actually watches Inside gaming reviews? They have to be the most biased, terrible reviews.

Halo 4 felt "hollow" to me. It was missing the "meat" that the others had. I still haven't been able to put my finger on it.

Hopefully Halo 5 and 6 regain that feeling.

It was like a diamond dipped in turd, and sprinkled with jade dust

the core was solid, everything looked pretty and it had loads of gimmicks, but ultimately, all you're seeing is a turd, even if there is a diamond the center

Same here. Maybe because, while it was still a great game... it just didn't have those moments that were made from pure-awesome, coated in gold, and then given a diamond bowtie. Moments such as the endscene from The Storm in Halo 3, the start of Halo in HALO:CE, where the banshees come out and you see this beacon, and the halo ring. Moments such as the end of Halo 2, with the Chief on board the Dreadnought.

To be fair, it was a trial game. However, there was only one epic moment for me. Base-jumping from a forerunner tower onto a Lych. Shame he didn't actually travel across them.

Tank scenes were still cool though. Better than Lumoria.

Jokes. I might try putting the original Halo anthem on, though.

So much butthurt, its the opinion of one particular group, get over it. Ill agree that it wasn't the best game of the year, but it also isn't as bad as you are all making it out to be.

the multiplayer was nice but the campaign was nowhere near as good as the other games. spartan ops has a better story than it does.

Halo 4 as a whole is a good game and was marketed very well. It may not be as good as other Halo games for some, but it's still a good game.

The way they made the campaign makes it look good, but when you think about the events themselves and not the cool fancy way they were introduced, the story really sucks.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified was the best CoD game ever in existence period

I agree with this. It's a good game, but to me, less awe-inspiring than previous Halo installments. Mostly due to the missing "trademark" encounters such as in the original trilogy, combined with the, in my opinion, cheesy and...rather stupid storyline.

A good game in strict terms, very well marketed clearly. But not the gem I'd hoped it would be.

I think Halo 4 was very deserving of it. Graphics looked great, story line was very different from the past few games (short though) and multiplayer has had new elements added and overall it plays tremendously well. Oh and I forgot Spartan Ops, I love the cinematic for each episode, they look amazing, but on the other side... Playing the same map again and again gets a bit redundant and boring. With all the being said, I think it does deserve game of the year due to the dramatic and amazing and great changes (most of the time) but that is my opinion, as a die hard Halo fan.
