First of all i cant find a copy of halo pc anywhere but i really want to mod this games engine and make my own idea and own maps and a full game. all i ever wanted to do was make a story in the halo universe but i cant because this game is ancient :(

here are my questions
- would pirating halo be illegal?
- if i do pirate halo can i use the halo mapping and hacking tools?
- also what 3d modelling program would you recommend? right now im using blender 3d

currently i have halo for the xbox and i played every mission from every halo game
all i want to do is make my own game which im sure lots of peeps would like because i got some good ideas that arent lame :) i see so much cool mods on youtube and i would like to make my own

Yes Pirating Halo would be Illegal because you didn't buy it.

You need Halo Custom Edition not Halo 1 if you want to mod which you can download here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=410 But you also need to download halo 1 update 1.09 so just search for that on the web.
But you still need a Halo 1 CD key to play Halo Custom Edition.
I'm thinking your getting a little confused with what Custom Edition can do, Custom Edition can only play custom maps it can't make maps, or import assets etc. For that you need HEK (Halo Editing Kit) just search on the website for it.

You can use whatever modelling program you want but I would recommend 3dsmax because it's more compatible with modding Halo and importing models (my opinion not sure if I'm 100% accurate on this one)

I have bought 3 copies off ebay, just make sure that it is sealed in the box and that the seller has good feedback.

Amazon pretty much always has it.

Around here (Texas) there are still a few stores that carry it (Best Buy and Office Depot were the last two places I saw it)

That is not a link to buy the game it is a link to an unauthorized purchase of a KEY and not a the game. You can not sell the key without the physical CD and case and that site is in direct and balant violation of the copyright for the game.
