The blue and alpha can't be flipped, the blue is part of the monochrome and is the same as the red and green. If you swapped the blue and the alpha it would no longer be monochrome.

Actually, I'm talking about the mp_elite_fp_arms_diffuse. I have them under A8R8G8B8 format and it has the specular in the blue channel instead of alpha.

A8R8G8B8 bitmaps are basically stored as-is with no special encoding, so it's not a mix up in the reading unless all A8R8G8B8 bitmaps are like this.

What it looks like right now is a bluish tint mixed with yellow here and there. See for yourself. This is what it looks like in adjudant, and when extracted (specular alpha and blue channel are flipped for some reason) This is what it looks like with the alpha and blue channel switched to fix it.

I haven't found other bitmaps of the same type as of yet. I'll let you know when I find some.
EDIT: Couldn't find any other viewable a8r8g8b8 bitmaps that weren't part of rasterizers or ingame shaders. If you have a list of other a8r8g8b8 bitmaps from halo 3 (stuff like object textures that aren't part of rasterizers or shaders), I can check them for you (but then that means you can check them yourself, which is a bit redundant). Rig it to H1 Cortana's bones if you're talking about the H3 Cortana model.I think it would be easier than trying to fix it.

A lot of gradient bitmaps are very thin, they only need to be 1 pixel high, sometimes 4, because all they do is show a gradient of colour.

DXT3A is readable, and will be available in advanced mode in the next update. If no bugs are found with it, then it will become available in normal mode. Edited by Gravemind on Feb 13, 2013 at 07:34 AM

According to some old documentation of mine that I never had a chance to expand on (they're listed as TODO in BlamLib), the D3DFORMATs introduced in Halo Reach are as follows: MAKED3DFMT2(GPUTEXTUREFORMAT_DXT4_5, GPUENDIAN_8IN16, TRUE, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUNUMFORMAT_FRACTION, GPUSWIZZLE_W, GPUSWIZZLE_Y, GPUSWIZZLE_Z, GPUSWIZZLE_X) MAKED3DFMT2(GPUTEXTUREFORMAT_DXT4_5, GPUENDIAN_8IN16, TRUE, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUNUMFORMAT_FRACTION, GPUSWIZZLE_X, GPUSWIZZLE_W, GPUSWIZZLE_Z, GPUSWIZZLE_Y) MAKED3DFMT2(GPUTEXTUREFORMAT_DXT4_5, GPUENDIAN_8IN16, TRUE, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUNUMFORMAT_FRACTION, GPUSWIZZLE_X, GPUSWIZZLE_Y, GPUSWIZZLE_W, GPUSWIZZLE_Z) MAKED3DFMT2(GPUTEXTUREFORMAT_24_8, GPUENDIAN_8IN32, TRUE, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUSIGN_UNSIGNED, GPUNUMFORMAT_FRACTION, GPUSWIZZLE_X, GPUSWIZZLE_Y, GPUSWIZZLE_1, GPUSWIZZLE_1)

Yea I think I saw something about those in BlamLib. I probably won't end up doing anything with Reach though. Sorry, didn't notice that edit. All the ones I've seen are pretty much the same, just gradients and rasterizers and whatnot. Nothing particularly good to test it on.

No problem. Any found any issues with DXT3a bitmaps?
Edit: I finally gave ODST maps their own meta plugins. This should clear up the errors R93_Sniper was having, but will also mean most of the values in the meta viewer will be hidden. You can see hidden values in advanced mode, but most of them aren't of much use anyway. Edited by Gravemind on Sep 4, 2012 at 09:21 AM

btw i have used this for odst maps to test them and it works fine. the last update i got was yesterday, the update didn't run as normal as the previous ones, instead it dropped an update exe in the folder, but when that was ran all was fine.

That's odd, it worked fine when I tested it. And the ODST maps read mostly normal, but there was issues with some meta viewer plugins, as well as models showing the wrong permutation names.

i had only checked the bitmap side of the extraction and noticed no problems there, well none that stood out. i hadn't tested it on the models. btw the update exe isn't really an issue, it may just have been the way my security handled it. alls good.

Go to "Options > About" and it says the version in the window heading. If you have version 2.1.0.0 it should've told you the changes in the update window when it told you there was an update, that's why its there. The full changelog can be downloaded by forcing an update, or you can always download it at http://db.tt/3JjKVyBx. Edit: For clarification, here's what it looks like: It tells you the current version and the new version, as well as the changes. I'll also make new versions download the full changelog again though. Edited by Gravemind on Feb 13, 2013 at 07:36 AM
