So i was wondering how i would go about making an object that only appeared when you are within about two feet. I remembered the cryo tube from the first level and couldn't figure out how it worked. Anyone here know? thanks in advance. lol.

I think it's something to do with the render bounding radius, but I'm not entirely certain.

for example if it's a scenery item open the .scenery tag of the item and at the top as echo mentioned set the bounding radius to what you want, it is in world units so just adjust it untill you're happy.

open a gbx, hes referring to the stuff at the top (the LoD changing stuff)

Also, why don't you include all your FP leg stuff in one thread? (Although I'm probably the only person who realizes each step you're doing lol. Trying to get the color for the legs, trying to make them invisible when you aren't right next to them, removing the jump height so they don't kick you in the face, etc) Also, why do you care if you have a spare pair of legs chasing you when driving vehicles? its fun to watch them catch up to you.

The way the cryotube was done, was LoDs. the LoD for super high, has cheif. High is the same tube, except no chief, and the lowers are normal LoDs (less detail, etc). Anyways, make a LoD that is invisible, and then you can do it the same way the cryotube does it, etc.

Well it seems you've figured out my master plan. I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for that meddling kirby... Anyway. what exactly are LoDs? and how would i go about making one that is blank?

PS: The color change thing was actually for the missile pod i'm working on, but i also planned on using it for the legs. Lol.

LoD - Level of Detail.
They are basically permutations. Include an extra JMS in the models folder, and you can use it as a LoD. You can either manually set them up in the gbxmodel tag, or if you name them correctly they will automatically set themselves up. I believe the naming scheme is just the LOD level, then permutation name. eg, SuperHighmyPermutation.JMS, HighmyPermutation.JMS although im not sure (I myself would just do it in guerilla afterwards lol. For that, just go to the permutation section, and pick the model for that LoD)

For invisible, just make a small box, put a brand new glass shader on it. It will be invisible.

okay, thanks, kirby. Oh another question: What would happen if you picked up a named weapon and then deleted it?
