I have a little treat for you guys today.

I'm sure you probably remember the doomed Firefight-Descent project, which was cast aside due to various other matters in my life. But I am not completely keeping it from the community.

Today, I am releasing The BSP for Firefight-Descent along with a medley of various tags, some made by me and some made by other community members, for public consumption and repurposing.



Download Goodies Here

Note that many of the tags in this release are modified versions of their originals, so I suggest if you use them to back up the original tags before replacing. Some tags may also be outdated, so make sure you get what is current in the Halo world.

Items worth noting include:
- End-of-level ranking scenery items
- Modified B40 battery scenery items (to match the level textures)
- "ODST-EVA" biped (converted from Garry's Mod by Shadowslayer)
- Modified Halo 2 small crate
- Modified sky tags to compliment bsp
- Some music tags
- Weapon tags from others modified by me for best look/fit
- A few actv and animation tags (from me and from others)
- The BSP / map physical structure (of course! )
- Other stuff I was too lazy to look up

Hopefully some of the things contained within the scripts for the map can be reverse-engineered and used in future projects from the community. Note that they are very in-depth though, and it may take a while to find how complicated actions chain together. Happy hunting!

Just for confirmation this isn't for finishing the Firefight map as it was designed.
The reason for this release is for the community to use what was contained within the map for their own creative purposes.

I did leave a good deal of tags out of the release due to non-necessity and/or lack of permission from owners of the tags left out. However there may be some tags that have been left in accidentally. The tag system for this map was very integrated, so cleaning up the release fully would have taken way too much work. Don't tell! I'll give you a cookie.

I am in possession of a copy from January 2011, but it will not be released due to the previously mentioned reasons. I do not want an incomplete map release to my name. There's really nothing to do on it anyway, unless you know the scripting commands to activate the encounters.

No problem. By the way, the weapondrop scripts are designed to work in conjunction with a constantly cycling weapondropvalue script in order to spawn a "random" weapon at the drop point at the end of a wave. Just wanted to explain that one.

The wave scripts are small because they used a test encounter. Don't get too excited on that area.

I think he means non Halo modders. You know, people who enjoy playing maps published on the site but don't feel the need to actually make one themselves.

Because the compiled map in its most recent iteration would have no gameplay value to those people, and would also lead to ripping of items which may not be approved for me to give out.

I'm thinking maybe this bsp could be used for a different purpose than firefight. IDK.

There's nothing wrong with non Halo Modders. It's nice to just see what's going on in the community and chip in here and there without doing any modding yourself. Priorities. I'm not doing any modding for at least another year still, if at all. And not just cos I'm still a noob.

i turned the map into an invasion-slayer based map with all halo 3 weapons

covenant on one side


and human on the other

also started adding an interior to the ship


i redid the warthog shaders and plan to do opensauce shaders for everything so the finished project should turn out great, this has ended up being good practice toward finally making my own map.
