They have destroyed everything Halo's multiplayer stood for, and pulled more random Covenant out of their ass for the story. My expectations are rather low.

Fighting Covenant again? Inb4 sources. Its in the Game Informer article, the preview of the campaign they gave has you fighting the covenant in the very first part of the level.

Yeah, I was kind of pissed that: 1. I'm going to be fighting Elites again, they made badass allies in Halo 3 2. That SOMEHOW the covenant managed to gather back together and make a whole new freaking fleet of ships. There is no way that could happen in the five year time-frame between Halo 3 and Halo 4. And, partially going back to my point in #1, why exactly are the Elites back in the covenant? The prophets tried to exterminate their race, I doubt they would rejoin under any circumstances. Either way, Microsoft already knows I'm buying it, so I guess they know they can just pull plot elements out of their ass now. The "New Enemy" they keep talking about is equally infuriating, that basically means that the entire story of Halo 4-6 is going to have nothing to do with the story of 1-3. To sum it all up, Microsoft wants us to buy more of their games and instead of creating a new IP (Which people might be hesitant to buy) they brand it as Halo because they know we'll buy it then. Don't get me wrong though, if you think I'm just being cynical, I'm not. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. I hope Halo 4 is the best game I ever play. I hope it's so amazing I'll be playing it years after release, but there's mounting evidence that Microsoft is trying to package ideas that were probably meant for a new IP under a more "Household name" so gamers like me will buy it on impulse before any extensive reviews are out. Edited by JimDaRulah on Apr 18, 2012 at 09:28 PM They're not necessarily covenant.. They're most likely Servants of Abiding Truth http://www.halopedian.com/Servants_of_Abiding_Truth No one said anything about prophets being a part of their "group". They probably have some Covenant races under their control (grunts, jackals possibly through hiring jackal pirates, hunters, and maybe even some brutes. In the Gameinformer Master Chief said that this group of Covenant were not as well equipped as usual. So.. not covenant just a fanatical group of sangheili.

Edited by JimDaRulah on Apr 18, 2012 at 09:28 PM For someone who accuses Microsoft of trying to get people to buy before more extensive reviews are out, you sure are making a ton of assumptions and speculations about a game that has had over all a very small amount of information released relative to the entirety of what the game has to offer. You seriously should wait, and stop making stupid assumptions. Edited by Bobblehob on Apr 18, 2012 at 11:57 PM

The multiplayer also has customizeable classes that you have to buy weapons, cosmetics, and "abilities" for by leveling up in multiplayer. Just like Call of Duty, and every other generic multiplayer game released in the last five years. Halo's multiplayer has always been about everyone starting on an even playing field. Bungie threw that off in Reach with armor abilities available at spawn, but 343 seems to have totally thrown the concept out the window.
Also, Firefight has been ditched completely.
As I said, I do not have high hopes for this game. Edited by Karrde on Apr 20, 2012 at 08:51 AM

Halo Reach's diminishing multiplayer attraction proved this. Are you saying that everyone started off even in Halo 2? You can say everyone starts off even technically speaking, but no, the only game to feature this concept was Halo 1 (arguably) and Halo 3 and even then it all comes down to skill. Halo Reach tackled the approach from a modern standpoint of giving people advantages from the get-go in an attempt to balance power shifts. Halo Reach, in other words, was over balanced, over equalized. Spartan-Ops.

Halo Reach's diminishing multiplayer was caused BY the attempt to appeal to the masses. All those dumb gadgets and stuff really threw the old, loyal, player base off from their game.
Me and alot of my friends used to play the first three halo games pretty hardcore, now we have ALL sold our copy of Reach. Edited by TM_updates on Apr 20, 2012 at 12:29 PM

I do think Armour Ability's are rather pointless. As obviously the ability would be within that armour, and not a pickup. So really they should of added all of them but nerfed them so that it made sense.
For example armour stiffening is realistic, and the jetpack ect... Sprinting especially, but tbf people would prefer none of them. The only really acceptable one ability is sprinting as clearly you should be able to run.
The jetpack should be a pickup as you put it on.

I really do want to smack the guy at Bungie who said "You know what this game should be like? Call of Duty!" during development of Halo Reach.
