Yes i know, the community used to get these once in a while. I've recently gotten back into playing Halo Custom again and so far, from what I've seen, there are many unoccupied servers out of the old maps I used to play:

Extinction
RPG_Beta_6.2
Sanctuary_Final
Yoyorast (any official version)
-that one zombie snow grove CMT map-

So my question is, are there just that few people on now? What maps are the servers running?

It depends on the version you are using. Version 1.00 has the most people on at any given time by far. The maps that I see mostly are extinction, coldsnap, ambush, yoyorast, and immure.

1.00 may have the most people, but I'd rather play with decent people who actually know how to play the game than...
PIRATES.

Curiously, whenever I go to 1.00, there's literally mexican pirates filling EVERY server.

There's also a few American pirates who are even worse than the Mexican pirates, because they lack manners.

So I personally would NOT recommend 1.00.

I wouldn't know how to get one version 1.00. How would I do that?

people from all across the world host servers including mexicans, so to constantly hit on them is a little silly.
anyway i have been seeing more custom maps being ran on the servers now on V1.09. especially over the past few days. but there are servers that run custom maps constant, and you know what... no one uses the servers.
1.00 does have more players and more servers, but to say you want to play with people who actually know how to play the game, then join one them halo clans out there, join their team speak servers and play with them or in public server just talk to your team in-game. fair enough not everyone speaks the same languages, i can't speak spanish but have gotten to know a few things that i can recognise and reply to.
funniest game type i have seen though, is ctf score in the enemys base, idk how many times i see players standing with the flag inside their own base text chatting wtf can not score LOL.

I never said anything about wanting to play with people who know how to play, I just want to play with people online. Most custom maps I've used when i stopped for a while arn't on the default version I use now I suppose? But that really doesnt answer, how would I get one version 1.00?
Also, as a side note, not really interested in joining up with clans or anything. Not that involved.
