Hello there everybody, I have made this thread for a challenge (if it's possible).

I was wondering if it's possible to do Parkour/Freerunning physics for Masterchief. My group that I'm in for Parkour would like to see this in Custom Edition, and I was wondering if it's possible to do such a thing.

If you don't know what Parkour/Freerunning is, please refer to this video below.

So...Can it be done? And could somebody do it...

haha, yea it looks alright in my opinion (It would be epic if it was in 3p so we can learn stuff from the game). But I want to see some Parkour and/or Freerunning for Masterchief or something.

First decent suggestion you've ever had Jedi, even if it is quite impossible(I dunno).

If it is possible, this'd be even more epic than a freerunning rabbit game!

You would have to make the animation in some program then import the animation into max and apply it to the mc bones.
It wouldnt be a playable thing but used for machinima and you would have to model in the structures used too.

:D I had this idea awhile back but never got around to doing it. I've always loved free running, even if i don't have anywhere to learn it. I taught myself a simple roll, to absorb sock from a fall, idk what it's called or any terminology.

Anyway, i had the idea of making cutscenes with parkour to make the game a little more exciting but then i thought. I wander if there's a way to make it so you could control it outside of a cutscene, which brought me to my next thought, vehicles. If you use vehicles and set up a script so that if you get into a trigger volume it would make you enter a named vehicle. then make the entering animation of the vehicle the one of the parkour trick(still no terminology) then set up in the script to automatically ejects you from the vehicle just as you've gotten in, then make the exiting animation only last 0.01 seconds then it would be automatic exiting with no lagging from animations.

So a quick recap: You enter a trigger volume, a script forces you to enter the vehicle, Que parkour entering animation, the same script makes you get out the second that entering animation ends, and there isn't an exiting animation so you aren't held there for a few seconds while you exit, then your back to running, shooting, and playing.

What do you think, guys? would this work, and be what we're looking for?

That's an idea for vehicles, but what about for other cutscenes?

Cutscenes are just custom animations of the character moving around a certain part of any given map. It wouldn't take much to make a few free running anims and set them up to play in parts of the map, and then have him running/aiming/shooting anims in between the free running portions.

E:I was talking about how you'd do free running outside of cutscenes, so the player could actually be playing during the free running parts and have a third person camera track of the entire thing.

This would have to be a SP map if you want to put a billion different functions in. OS would help greatly (so you can only preform things when moving at certain speeds, and better control)

Walljump is a simple OS speed check, volume trigger across walljump walls, check that you press jump while the requirements are met, OS velocity control to bounce you in the opposite direction + extra z velocity.
Going through holes. Volume trigger, check flashlight, preform dive animation, force them to the other side (teleport, or use a vehicle enterance/exit to animate and get them there)
grabbing onto ledges, set a button (zoom, flashlight, etc) that when your in one of those trigger volumes, you enter a customized ghost. This ghost has no forward, backward, or turning. The physics antigrav equal perfectly to its weight. use OS to force the not turning and staying within the ledges bounds. Normal vehicle exit goes down, flashlight jumps upwards off it.

*shrug* its more about time than :effort:.

You're way over complicating it. All you would need to do is make a trigger volume and set a script so that if you enter it you enter a vehicle, and your third person entering animation is one of you doing a wall jump. Then Have a 0.0001 second exciting animation so you don't have to wait for it to do that and make the script automatically eject you once you're in.

Do it with different vehicles on different parts of the map and ta duh. Would be over complicated to do all of that and have the same result.

And if you just want a game where you can free run on anything try Assassins Creed.

using vehicles automatically ANYTIME you entered a trigger volume would give you no control, it would force you to do things anytime you got near anything, but if you want it to basically be a movie rather than a game, then sure, go ahead *shrug* But at that point, why aren't you just making a movie in 3dsmax instead?

1) I want it to be in Halo.
2) I want to play with it as well, not just with cutscenes.
3) I want it to be mainly for cutscenes for my SP I'm making.
4) Can somebody work on it?
