I have been thinking that it would be nice if there was a complete, start to finish, custom weapon tutorial. One that included modeling, unwrapping, texturing, animating, tagging, etc...

So my question is, before I actually go to the effort of making one, would anyone actually be interested in this? Does anyone else think that this is something that would be helpful for new members?

Even if I decide to do this, it would take me quite a while to finish it. But I have been thinking about it for a while now... So I figured I would get people's opinion of the idea.

I could definitely use a full complete start-finish weapon unwrapping tutorial.

As long as it's in PDF format...I hate video tutorials, such a hassle to download.

Teaching someone to model, unwrap, and texure a weapon (not to mention animate) with a .pdf would be difficult to say the least. So I would probably do a video tutorial.

Besides, since the main purpose would be to teach new members how to make their own weapons instead of ripping or asking for them, I think that a video would be the easiest to learn.

The idea is that I would make a weapon (either a pistol or an smg) from scratch and show how to do each and every step.

btw, If I do this, would you rather a Pistol (probably Colt 1911 or USP .45) or an SMG (probably a UMP .45)

There's already a pistol tutorial floating about...an SMG would probably provide the best example for modelling techniques.

Okay, then I will plan on doing a UMP .45

I was kinda leaning towards the SMG anyway, because I don't like animating pistols as much.

The only thing I have against .pdf tutorials is that I don't know how to do a detailed tutorial teaching things like modelling and animation in text form. So I think I will be doing a video tutorial.

I am leaning towards doing a UMP .45 but I am open to ideas. I don't want to do anything to terribly complicated or the tutorial will end up being REALLY freaking long. Even if I do a simple weapon, covering every step of modeling, unwrapping, texturing, animating, and tagging will make for a LONG tutorial.
